Toyota says the 2026 Mirai fuel-cell sedan offers 182 hp, an EPA-estimated 402-mile range and $51,795 MSRP. See key tech, safety and service details.

Toyota’s 2026 Mirai doubles down on a simple promise: an electric sedan that doesn’t plug in. Instead, it generates electricity onboard from hydrogen and releases only water from the tailpipe—Toyota’s way of keeping the EV feel while sidestepping long charging sessions.

For the 2026 model year, the headline numbers are clear. The Mirai’s fuel cell electric powertrain is rated at 182 horsepower, and Toyota cites an EPA-estimated 402-mile driving range. Power goes to a rear-mounted AC synchronous motor, with energy supported by regenerative braking and a lithium-ion battery.

Visually, Toyota points to one straightforward update: 19-inch black, machine-finished alloy wheels now come standard. Underneath, the Mirai stays on Toyota’s rear-wheel-drive GA-L platform, with packaging designed around two hydrogen tanks located beneath the rear seats. Toyota also highlights standard aids such as Active Cornering Assist and Hill Start Assist Control.

Inside, the focus is on screens, connectivity, and daily convenience. The Mirai features a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster, plus a Panoramic View Monitor for a 360-degree overhead perspective. Device charging includes a Qi-compatible wireless tray along with multiple USB ports, and Toyota Audio Multimedia brings over-the-air updates and voice interaction.

Connected features are bundled through Toyota’s service lineup, including Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect, with trial periods and network-dependent functionality noted by Toyota. The Mirai also carries Toyota’s driver-assistance suite, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, covering functions such as pre-collision support, adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, road sign assistance, automatic high beams, and proactive driving support. Additional standard features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and parking assist with automatic braking, while Traffic Jam Assist requires an active Drive Connect trial or subscription.

Toyota says the 2026 Mirai is expected to reach dealerships this winter with a stated MSRP of $51,795 (excluding a separate dealer processing and handling fee of $1,195, with pricing subject to change). The company also lists ownership and leasing benefits, including extended ToyotaCare, component warranties, and $15,000 in complimentary hydrogen fuel with different time limits for purchases versus leases.

As ever, the Mirai’s real-world appeal depends on where hydrogen refueling is practical. In Germany, H2 MOBILITY describes a network of roughly 70 public hydrogen stations and directs drivers to h2.live for live station status. In California—one of the most important U.S. markets for fuel-cell cars—official sources publish station information with regular updates. That context helps frame Toyota’s push: the 2026 Mirai adds polish and stronger “everyday” usability on paper, while the fueling network remains the deciding factor that will shape how far hydrogen mobility can realistically go next.
