Daimler Buses announces free digital services for new Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses, enhancing real-time monitoring, battery health tracking, and fleet management efficiency.

Daimler Buses is taking a major step toward the digitalization of public transport. All new Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses, including both diesel and electric models, will now come with free access to a package of digital services. This initiative aims to enhance vehicle monitoring, reduce downtime, and lower the total cost of ownership (TCO).

The offer applies to all newly delivered buses: diesel bus owners will receive three years of free access, while electric models such as eCitaro, eCitaro with fuel cells, and eIntouro will enjoy these services for six years. After the free period ends, customers will have the option to continue using the services at a reduced subscription rate.

The digital service package includes several essential features. One of the most important is Omniplus On Uptime pro, a system that continuously monitors bus conditions and provides real-time diagnostics. This allows fleet operators to detect potential malfunctions early, preventing major breakdowns and reducing repair time.

For electric buses, Omniplus On Battery Monitoring offers an additional advantage. This tool tracks battery health, evaluates wear and tear, and provides recommendations for extending battery life. Given the increasing shift toward electric mobility, such monitoring can significantly improve the long-term efficiency of electric bus operations.

Another key component is Omniplus On monitor, which allows operators to analyze not only fuel consumption in diesel buses but also energy usage in electric models. This enables bus companies to optimize routes and improve overall operational efficiency.

Simple Activation and Strong Data Security

All services are available through the Omniplus On portal. Activation is straightforward—owners simply need to register to gain access to the full range of digital tools. Importantly, the use of these services remains optional and does not interfere with the core operation of the vehicle.

Daimler Buses ensures that data security is a top priority. The transmission and storage of vehicle data comply with ECE R155, a cybersecurity standard that guarantees a high level of protection.

This move by Daimler Buses not only makes its vehicles more technologically advanced but also simplifies operations for transport companies. Increased transparency, reduced downtime, and optimized energy consumption provide strong incentives for operators to adopt these models.

It is likely that this initiative will drive greater interest in digital solutions across the public transport sector, pushing competitors to develop similar offerings. In the coming years, digitalization and remote diagnostics may transition from being a premium feature to becoming a fundamental industry standard.
