Audi continues to expand its premium charging infrastructure network. In 2025, the company opened its third Audi charging hub of the year, this time at the EUREF Campus in Düsseldorf. The new site marks Audi’s first charging hub in North Rhine-Westphalia and brings the total number of Audi charging hubs in German-speaking countries to nine.

The choice of location underlines the strategic intent behind the project. The EUREF Campus is positioned as an innovation district and a real-world laboratory for Germany’s energy transition, bringing together solutions for sustainable energy, mobility, and urban infrastructure. Placing an Audi charging hub here reflects a focus on demonstrating electric mobility in a future-oriented urban environment.

The Düsseldorf charging hub is open to electric vehicles of all brands and features four high-power charging points with up to 400 kW of charging capacity. Beyond fast charging, Audi emphasizes energy stability. The site uses second-life batteries from Audi test vehicles as buffer storage, with a total capacity of around 1.0 MWh. This allows up to 60 vehicles to be charged consecutively while reducing strain on the local power grid.

Audi also applies a dynamic electricity procurement model at its charging hubs. Based on demand forecasting, the system enables electricity to be purchased on the power exchange when prices are lower and when renewable sources such as wind and solar energy are widely available. This approach supports both cost efficiency and sustainability goals.

Accessibility and comfort play a central role in the hub’s design. An innovative swivel arm reduces the perceived weight of the charging cable by around 60 percent, making handling easier for a wide range of users. Height-adjustable displays and generous maneuvering space further improve ease of use. Audi emphasizes that accessibility is treated as a standard feature rather than an optional extra.

The charging hub concept extends beyond a purely functional role. Visitors at the EUREF Campus can access food and beverage options, restrooms, and showrooms operated by companies based on the campus. Known as a popular event venue, the location allows charging breaks to become part of a broader urban and professional experience.

Responsibility for the further development of Audi charging hubs now lies with Hubert Link, who previously worked in Audi’s customer care and marketing divisions. Audi positions its charging hubs as brand touchpoints, designed to create direct interaction between users and the Audi brand during everyday charging routines.

The opening of the Düsseldorf hub was accompanied by a two-day event at the end of November 2025. Visitors were able to speak directly with Audi experts on electric mobility and charging technology and experience the brand’s latest electric models during test drives.

With new locations in Düsseldorf, Kiefersfelden, and Munich-Westkreuz, Audi is steadily advancing the expansion of its premium charging network. The company has already announced plans to open additional Audi charging hubs in German cities in 2026, reinforcing the role of charging infrastructure as a key element of its broader electric mobility strategy.
