Toyota has introduced the Crown Estate in Japan, completing its Crown lineup with a versatile wagon-SUV hybrid. Learn more about its design, features, and pricing.

Toyota continues to redefine its iconic Crown lineup, unveiling the latest and final model in Japan—the Crown Estate. This new addition completes the Crown series, which now includes four distinct body styles: Crossover, Sport, Sedan, and Estate. The new model blends dynamic styling, enhanced functionality, and advanced technologies, catering to both comfort and sustainability.

The Crown Estate breaks away from traditional wagon conventions. Built on the GA-K platform, it features an elegant design with sharp shoulder lines that flow from the hood to the rear. The 21-inch aluminum wheels reinforce its bold proportions, while the bumper-integrated grille creates a seamless and stylish front-end appearance.

Toyota offers multiple monotone and bi-tone color options, including the exclusive Precious Metal x Massive Gray bi-tone shade for the PHEV variant. Inside, buyers can choose from three interior themes: the signature Black, the warm and sophisticated Saddle Tan, and the Grayish Blue—exclusive to the PHEV version.

Designed for active consumers, the Crown Estate offers 570 liters of cargo space, expanding to 1,470 liters with the rear seats folded down. One standout feature is the flat luggage floor extension system, allowing for a completely level loading surface—ideal for outdoor adventures or transporting large items.

Additionally, the car includes integrated pull-out chairs and a table stored in the luggage compartment, adding practicality for outdoor trips and camping experiences.

Toyota offers two powertrain options:

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)
  • Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

The PHEV version features a high-density lithium-ion battery, providing up to 89 km of all-electric range in BEV mode. Both models come equipped with E-Four all-wheel drive (AWD) for added stability.

For a refined driving experience, Toyota has incorporated its Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS), improving handling precision and ride comfort.

Manufactured at Toyota’s Tsutsumi Plant, the Crown Estate will be available in Japan at the following prices:

  • PHEV (Estate RS) – ¥8,100,000 (~$54,000 USD)
  • HEV (Estate Z) – ¥6,350,000 (~$42,000 USD)

Customers can also opt for Toyota’s KINTO subscription service, with monthly fees starting at ¥77,440 (HEV) and ¥103,620 (PHEV).

To celebrate the launch, Toyota will host a special “Life with CROWNs” event from March 13 to 16 at Azabudai Hills Arena, Tokyo. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the entire Crown lineup and experience its diverse features.

With the Crown Estate, Toyota has now completed the reinvention of the Crown series, offering diverse body styles tailored to different lifestyles. Whether this multi-format approach will sustain long-term success remains to be seen, but Toyota’s strategy of blending heritage with innovation is certainly a bold step forward.
