Mazda North American Operations reveals how the 2026 CX-5 improves interior space, comfort, and usability. Learn what has changed in the new model.

Mazda North American Operations has released a new video highlighting the interior design and cabin layout of the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5, placing a clear emphasis on comfort, practicality, and everyday versatility.

According to the presentation featuring Jannice Jacobson, Senior Manager of Strategic Planning at Mazda, the latest CX-5 has grown significantly. The model is more than four inches longer than its predecessor, with a longer wheelbase and increased overall width. These changes translate directly into improved legroom, headroom, and cargo space for passengers.

Practical improvements play a central role in the redesign. Wider rear door openings make entry and exit easier, while a larger liftgate opening combined with a lower load floor simplifies loading luggage and everyday items. These updates are aimed at accommodating passengers of various sizes, families with car seats, and travelers carrying larger amounts of cargo.

Interior craftsmanship is another key focus. A new two-tone cabin design helps brighten the interior, while durable, stain-resistant materials balance visual appeal with real-world usability. Enhanced insulation further reduces wind and road noise, creating a calmer and more relaxing environment inside the vehicle.

Taken together, the expanded proportions, thoughtful interior layout, and attention to detail position the 2026 CX-5 as a more refined and versatile evolution of Mazda’s compact crossover. The updates suggest a continued focus on passenger comfort and everyday functionality as the model moves into its next generation.
