Xiaomi Automobile is accelerating its rise in the electric vehicle market, achieving a new milestone with 200,000 EV deliveries in just 119 days. This impressive feat reflects the young automaker's rapid growth since its launch in 2021.

The company's success is largely driven by the SU7 sedan, which debuted in March 2024 and sparked immediate demand. Xiaomi secured 50,000 orders within the first 27 minutes of sales. Today, customers face a waiting period of at least 30 weeks for delivery. The performance-focused SU7 Ultra, boasting 1,548 horsepower and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 1.98 seconds, has drawn particular attention.

By the end of 2024, Xiaomi had delivered 135,000 SU7 units and initially aimed to double this figure in 2025. However, surging demand prompted the company to revise its target upward. Xiaomi now expects to deliver 350,000 vehicles this year.

Notably, the SU7 has already outpaced Tesla’s Model 3 sales in China, with 162,000 units sold compared to 152,000 for the American rival. Building on this momentum, Xiaomi is preparing to launch its second model — the YU7 electric SUV — which is set to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y. The YU7 is scheduled to hit the Chinese market this summer after its unveiling late last year.

Xiaomi Auto’s financial results show rapid revenue growth, with the division generating 32 billion yuan in 2024. However, the automaker remains unprofitable for now, reporting losses of 1.5 billion yuan in the third quarter of last year.

Looking ahead, Xiaomi has ambitious global plans. Company executives have confirmed their intention to expand overseas, aiming to begin exporting EVs by 2027. The next major milestone will be the official launch of the YU7 SUV, although Xiaomi may reach 300,000 deliveries even before that.
