Porsche tests the Macan Electric on Montenegro’s Kotor Serpentine, highlighting its dynamic handling, range, and performance on a demanding historic route.

Porsche hosted an extensive media drive in Montenegro to showcase the capabilities of the fully electric Macan. The event took place on one of Europe’s most spectacular and challenging routes — the Kotor Serpentine Road.

Journalists from 14 countries gathered in Herceg Novi, known as the “City of the Sun,” before embarking on a 60-kilometre journey around the stunning Bay of Kotor. Their destination was the Kotor Serpentine, a road built in 1884 during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Originally designed as a trade route, it connects the coastal town of Kotor with Cetinje, the old royal capital, climbing nearly 1,000 metres through 25 sharp hairpin bends.

The route winds through a protected nature reserve, preserving the area's rich biodiversity. Beyond its tourist appeal, the Kotor Serpentine is also an FIA-approved hillclimb course, regularly hosting local motorsport events.

This demanding terrain provided the perfect stage for Porsche to demonstrate the dynamic handling and performance of the Macan Electric. The focus was on the Macan Turbo Electric, equipped with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, an electronically controlled differential, and all-wheel drive. The optional rear-axle steering added exceptional agility, allowing the car to tackle the narrow corners with ease.

Venceslas Monzini, Head of PR at Porsche Central and Eastern Europe, highlighted that the electric powertrain delivered instant torque and impressive responsiveness. The vehicle’s range comfortably covered the entire route, supported by sufficient charging infrastructure along the way.

Notably, interest in the Macan Electric has surged in Europe. Following the discontinuation of the combustion-engine version in spring 2024 due to stricter cybersecurity regulations, demand for the electric model soared. By the end of 2024, Porsche had already sold over 18,000 Macan Electric units. This milestone reflects the brand’s strategic focus on electrification and growing customer confidence in its new technologies.
