Mercedes-Benz Celebrates Key Motorsport Anniversaries in 2025

Explore Mercedes-Benz's rich motorsport history with key anniversaries in 2025, from F1 dominance to iconic DTM victories and legendary Silver Arrows.
Mercedes-Benz has presented the first edition of its Classic Motorsport Newsletter for 2025, highlighting the brand's remarkable legacy in global motorsport. The review captures key milestones and anniversaries from more than 130 years of racing history — from the legendary Silver Arrows to modern Formula One triumphs.
A central focus is the 15th anniversary of the Mercedes GP PETRONAS Formula One Team. Debuting in 2010 with Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, the team rapidly became one of the sport’s most dominant forces. Seven drivers' titles and eight constructors' championships, largely thanks to Lewis Hamilton's brilliance, mark this golden era. The 2025 season has also started strongly, with George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finishing third and fourth at the Australian Grand Prix.
Another major milestone is the 30th anniversary of the McLaren-Mercedes partnership, which began at the 1995 Brazilian Grand Prix. Mika Häkkinen scored the first points for the team, paving the way for multiple world titles and a constructors' championship. Symbolically, McLaren clinched the 2024 Constructors' Championship with Mercedes power and remains a strong contender in 2025 — including a double podium finish at the Chinese Grand Prix.
The newsletter revisits the historic 1935 Monaco Grand Prix victory, with Luigi Fagioli leading the Silver Arrows and Rudolf Caracciola capturing the European Championship — a forerunner of Formula One. Equally significant is 1955, a year of contrasts. Stirling Moss's record-breaking Mille Miglia victory and Juan Manuel Fangio’s second consecutive F1 title stood alongside the tragic Le Mans accident, which reshaped motorsport’s safety standards.
DTM achievements also feature prominently. The 2000 series relaunch saw Bernd Schneider secure the title, while Mika Häkkinen’s spectacular 2005 victory at Spa-Francorchamps showcased his touring car talent. DTM became a stage for Formula One stars, with Jean Alesi, David Coulthard, and Ralf Schumacher making their mark behind the wheel of Mercedes cars.
Today, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 continues the legacy in DTM, embodying the brand’s commitment to performance and innovation. Judging by the early results of 2025, Mercedes-Benz remains a powerhouse in motorsport, ready to write the next chapters of its rich racing story.
