Hyundai Motor America reports record U.S. retail and total sales in 2025, led by hybrid and SUV demand. Explore the key results and market context.

Hyundai Motor America closed 2025 with results that underline its resilience in the U.S. market. The company posted its fifth consecutive year of record retail sales and a third straight year of record total sales, finishing the year on strong demand for core models and a continued shift toward electrified powertrains.

December marked the best month in the brand’s U.S. history, with sales reaching 78,930 vehicles, slightly exceeding the same period a year earlier. The full-year picture was even stronger: retail sales totaled 772,712 units, while overall sales climbed to 901,686 vehicles, both setting new records for Hyundai Motor America.

Hybrid models played a central role in this performance. December hybrid sales surged 71 percent to an all-time monthly high, and for the full year HEV volumes rose 36 percent. Electrified vehicles overall, including hybrids and EVs, accounted for around 30 percent of Hyundai’s retail mix, highlighting sustained consumer interest in more efficient powertrains.

Growth was largely driven by SUVs and crossovers. Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade delivered double-digit gains, while several models — including Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, Palisade, IONIQ 5 and Venue — ended the year with record annual sales. At the same time, certain EVs such as IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 saw weaker results in December and the fourth quarter, contrasting with the strong momentum in hybrids.

Alongside sales, Hyundai strengthened its brand credentials through industry recognition. The company was included in the World’s Best Companies 2025 ranking, while Hyundai models contributed to a record number of IIHS safety awards for the group. The Palisade, including its hybrid variant, also collected multiple industry and consumer honors, reinforcing its position in the family SUV segment.

Overall, Hyundai’s 2025 results point to a company closing another year of expansion, supported by a balanced lineup and growing acceptance of hybrid technology. Against this backdrop, further development of electrified models and new product launches in 2026 appear to be a natural next step in the brand’s trajectory.
