The BMW Group and the London Symphony Orchestra are preparing a musical highlight for London — the 13th edition of BMW Classics will take place on Sunday, 15 June 2025, in Trafalgar Square. This year’s concert marks two major milestones: the debut of Sir Antonio Pappano as the LSO’s Chief Conductor and, for the first time, the opportunity to stream the performance directly inside selected BMW and MINI models.

The evening’s programme reflects Pappano’s Italian heritage and his acclaimed operatic career. The concert will open with the spirited overture to Gioachino Rossini’s final Italian opera, “Semiramide.” It will be followed by Giacomo Puccini’s early orchestral work “Capriccio sinfonico.” A special highlight is the world premiere of “Opera for Orchestra” by British-Canadian composer Isabella Gellis. Commissioned for this event, the piece brings together LSO and Guildhall School of Music & Drama musicians alongside 55 young players from East London, part of the LSO Discovery programme.

The evening concludes with two powerful pieces: the iconic “Grand March” from Giuseppe Verdi’s “Aida” and Victor de Sabata’s symphonic poem “Juventus.”

For the first time in the event’s history, audiences will not only be able to enjoy the concert in Trafalgar Square or via live stream on YouTube and Facebook but also from the comfort of selected BMW and MINI models. Thanks to the integrated Video App, powered by DTS AutoStage Video Service by TiVo™, the concert will be streamed directly to the latest infotainment systems.

Dame Kathryn McDowell, Managing Director of the LSO, called BMW Classics a vital part of London’s cultural calendar, bringing thousands together and offering young musicians a rare chance to perform on a world stage. London Mayor Sadiq Khan also welcomed the event, noting the unique opportunity to hear a world-class orchestra in the heart of the city.

With a long-standing global commitment to the arts, BMW Group once again demonstrates its dedication to making classical music accessible to all. Organisers expect that the broadcast and youth participation will spark greater interest in classical music among new audiences.
