Nissan Reveals Bold 2025–2026 Global Product Plan with Focus on EVs and Hybrids

Nissan announces a global lineup refresh for 2025–2026 with new EVs, hybrids, and a third-gen e-POWER system. Learn what's coming to each region.
Nissan has laid out an ambitious global product roadmap for fiscal years 2025 and 2026, focusing on electrification, powertrain diversification, and regionally tailored offerings. The plan spans major global markets and features a series of new model launches, innovative hybrid technologies, and the expansion of electric vehicles (EVs).
Key highlights include the all-new Nissan LEAF, reimagined as a sleek family-friendly crossover, and the return of the Micra as a stylish all-electric city car developed in collaboration with Renault. Both models will ride on the CMF-EV platform, designed to offer flexible architecture, optimized packaging, and improved interior space. Notably, the new LEAF will feature a NACS charging port, enabling access to the Tesla Supercharger network for the first time.
A major leap forward is also coming with the third generation of Nissan's e-POWER hybrid technology. This unique system, in which a gasoline engine generates electricity to power an electric motor that drives the wheels, will benefit from up to 15% better fuel efficiency at highway speeds, reduced noise and vibration, and an entirely new 1.5-liter engine. The system integrates into a compact 5-in-1 unit, combining core components to improve refinement and cost-efficiency. It will debut on the Qashqai in Europe in FY25, followed by the Rogue in North America and a large minivan in Japan the following year.
Across the globe, Nissan will roll out region-specific strategies. North America will see over 10 new or refreshed models, including its first plug-in hybrid – the Rogue PHEV – as well as a new Sentra and Pathfinder. In Europe, four electrified models are planned: the LEAF, Micra, Qashqai with e-POWER, and an electric Juke. LATAM, India, Africa, and the Middle East will see a mix of rugged pickups, compact SUVs, and locally optimized models. Australia is set to welcome the Ariya EV, third-generation LEAF, and a new Patrol SUV.
Significant investments are also being made in manufacturing capabilities. Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant will be transformed into an EV production hub, supported by a battery supply deal with South Korean firm SK On. Starting in 2028, the plant will build a new adventure-focused electric SUV, followed by a luxury INFINITI EV.
According to Nissan’s forecasts, 30 new models will be launched globally by FY27, with 16 of them being electrified. The company aims to boost global sales by one million units and reach over 6% operating profit. In China, Nissan targets one million vehicle sales by 2026, while in Europe, the goal is for EVs to account for 40% of passenger car sales.
This wide-ranging transformation signals Nissan’s intent to stay ahead in a fast-evolving auto landscape where electrification, sustainability, and flexibility are becoming critical. If executed as planned, the company appears well-positioned to not only retain relevance but expand its influence in the next era of mobility.
