MAN’s electric trucks have driven 500,000 km in Europe with 400 tons of CO₂ saved. Discover how MAN eTrucks are shaping sustainable logistics.

Since early 2025, more than 100 electric trucks from MAN’s pre-series fleet have been in active operation across Europe. In just a few months, they’ve logged a combined 500,000 kilometres, proving their reliability and efficiency in long-distance routes, even in winter conditions.

Major logistics companies like DB Schenker, Duvenbeck, Dachser, and Koopman are among those using the MAN eTrucks. When powered by 100% green electricity, the vehicles have already saved an estimated 400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions — a significant reduction compared to conventional diesel trucks with a typical consumption of 27 litres per 100 kilometres.

On average, the eTrucks cover 400–600 kilometres per day, with one truck reaching as much as 800 kilometres daily using intermediate charging. The fleet’s energy consumption has averaged just 106 kWh per 100 kilometres — a strong result given the cold weather during the initial months of operation.

With large-scale production set to begin in May 2025, MAN is continuing to deliver the remaining trucks from its initial batch of 200. The company highlights battery modularity and flexibility as core strengths, offering up to one million possible configurations — including long-haul variants with a 500-kilometre range and ultra-lowliner models ideal for automotive logistics. Fast charging is supported via CCS and the upcoming MCS standard, capable of up to 1 megawatt.

A key demonstration of performance came with the MAN Polar Express: a battery-electric eTGX covered 3,000 kilometres from the Arctic Circle to Munich, relying solely on public charging infrastructure. The journey proved that fully electric trans-European freight transport is already feasible today.

Infrastructure expansion is also underway. In partnership with E.ON, MAN plans to build around 400 public charging points at 170 locations across Europe. The company's goal is to help establish 30,000 MCS-compatible charging stations by 2030, with 4,000 of those in Germany alone.

To support customers in the transition to electric mobility, MAN provides 360-degree eMobility Consulting. Services include route analysis, tailored infrastructure solutions, and digital tools like MAN eReadyCheck and Charge & Go for easy planning and billing of international trips.

With a holistic approach that combines robust vehicles, infrastructure, and digital support, MAN is positioning itself as a leader in the heavy-duty electric truck market. The journey has begun — and many more electric kilometres lie ahead.
