Hyundai MobED Receives CES 2026 Best of Innovation Award
Hyundai Motor Company reports that its MobED robotics platform won the CES 2026 Best of Innovation Award. Learn what this recognition means for robotics.
Hyundai Motor Company has been awarded the Best of Innovation Award in the Robotics category at CES 2026 for MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid), a mobile robotics platform developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB and prepared for commercial launch in 2026.
The recognition marks a milestone for Hyundai, as it is the first time the company has received the highest distinction within the CES Innovation Awards program. The Best of Innovation Award is granted to only one top-rated product in each category, highlighting exceptional achievements in engineering, innovation, and real-world applicability.
MobED is designed as a versatile mobile platform intended for both industrial and everyday use cases. Its development traces back to its initial debut as a concept at CES 2022, followed by continuous refinement toward a mass-production-ready solution. In December 2025, Hyundai presented MobED in its production-ready form at the International Robot Exhibition (iREX 2025) in Tokyo, where its practical capabilities were demonstrated in detail.
The platform is offered in two versions, MobED Basic and MobED Pro. The Basic model is designed for operator-controlled applications and research-oriented use, while the MobED Pro features autonomous navigation supported by AI-based algorithms. The Pro version integrates LiDAR-camera fusion sensors, enabling accurate environmental perception and stable movement in complex conditions.
A defining element of MobED is Hyundai’s proprietary Drive and Lift (DnL) technology, combined with an eccentric posture control mechanism. This configuration allows the robot to maintain stability on uneven terrain, slopes, and curbs. The platform’s modular design supports a wide range of top-mounted modules, making it adaptable to different operational needs.
At CES 2026, visitors can experience MobED in action at Hyundai Motor Group’s exhibit, where demonstrations focus on logistics, delivery, and autonomous navigation. Earlier demonstrations at iREX 2025 also showcased applications such as loading and unloading, urban mobility scenarios, and broadcasting-related use cases.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to begin mass production of MobED in the first quarter of 2026. The project aligns with the company’s broader strategy of evolving from a traditional automotive manufacturer into a provider of smart mobility solutions. The CES recognition underscores MobED’s transition from an experimental concept into a market-ready robotics platform positioned for deployment across multiple industries.
