Rivian's Electric Vans Now Available to All US Fleets

Rivian has ended its exclusive deal with Amazon, making its electric vans available to all US businesses. Discover key details, specs, and industry impact.
Rivian has opened a new chapter in the history of its electric commercial vans, making them available to any fleet in the United States. Until recently, these vans were supplied exclusively to Amazon under an agreement signed in 2019. Under the contract, Rivian committed to delivering 100,000 vehicles by 2030, with more than 20,000 already on the road by the end of 2024, delivering over 800 million packages across the country. However, in November 2023, the exclusive agreement was terminated ahead of schedule, paving the way for new customers.
Now, any business in the U.S. can purchase Rivian’s electric vans in two versions: the Delivery 500, priced from $79,900, and the Delivery 700, starting at $83,900. Both models are equipped with a 320-horsepower electric motor and a 100 kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 260 kilometers. The vans support fast charging up to 100 kW and come with advanced safety and driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and 360-degree cameras.
The decision to expand sales could significantly strengthen Rivian’s position in the electric commercial vehicle market. In 2024, the company already surpassed Ford to become the largest producer of electric vans in the U.S., selling 13,560 units compared to Ford’s 12,610 E-Transit models. Mercedes-Benz, with its eSprinter electric van, is also a key competitor. Rivian’s advantage lies in the fact that its vans were designed from the ground up as electric vehicles, allowing for optimized construction and greater efficiency compared to modified combustion engine models from competitors.
Flexibility and adaptability are additional strong arguments in favor of Rivian vans. The company offers customization options to tailor vehicles to different business needs, including installing shelves and reinforced floors, as well as branding the vehicle’s exterior in the client’s corporate style. These solutions are particularly popular in the logistics and delivery sectors, where efficiency and ergonomic design directly impact productivity.
The launch of mass sales in the U.S. may be just the first step in Rivian’s new strategy. Although there is currently no official information about international expansion, experts suggest that a successful launch in the domestic market could pave the way for entering global markets in the coming years. With the rapidly growing demand for environmentally friendly commercial transportation, Rivian is well-positioned to become a market leader not only in the United States but also beyond its borders.
