Opel Presents New Astra and Electric Lineup in Brussels
Opel presented the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer at the Brussels Motor Show 2026, highlighting Intelli-Lux HD lighting and an expanded electric lineup.
Opel opened 2026 with a strong presence at the Brussels Motor Show, where the world premiere of the updated Astra and Astra Sports Tourer took center stage. More than a routine facelift, the debut underlined how Opel sees the future of the compact class, combining sharper design, advanced lighting technology and a growing focus on electrification.
The new Astra models introduce a permanently illuminated Opel Blitz and the Opel Compass light signature integrated into the refined Vizor front. The most significant innovation, however, is the debut of the adaptive Intelli-Lux HD headlights with more than 50,000 individual light elements. Until now, this technology was reserved for higher segments, making its arrival in the compact class a notable statement.
Inside, Opel continues its sustainability approach. Even entry-level versions are equipped with ergonomic Intelli-Seats, while the entire interior is made from recycled materials. In the fully electric Astra Electric, a 58 kWh battery enables a range of up to 454 kilometers (WLTP). For the first time, the model also offers Vehicle-to-Load capability, allowing external devices to be powered directly from the car.
Beyond the Astra premiere, Opel’s Brussels stand highlighted the growing importance of its electric GSE portfolio. The Mokka GSE, already available to order, was presented as the fastest all-electric production Opel, reaching 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h. Its recent Golden Steering Wheel 2025 award in the small car category further strengthens its position as a performance-oriented electric flagship.
The spotlight also fell on the Grandland Electric AWD, Opel’s first fully electric model with all-wheel drive. With a system output of 239 kW and 509 Nm of torque, combined with multiple driving modes and frequency selective damping, the Grandland Electric AWD aims to balance everyday comfort with confident traction and performance.
The electric lineup is completed by the Frontera Electric Extended Range. Thanks to a new 54 kWh battery, its WLTP range increases to around 408 kilometers, enhancing its suitability for daily use and longer journeys alike. Practicality remains a core theme, with generous load capacity and versatile interior solutions.
Adding a digital dimension to the display is the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. This phygital concept exists both as a physical show car and as a drivable vehicle in Gran Turismo 7, where it has been available since late September. The project illustrates how Opel connects real-world electric performance with virtual motorsport experiences.
Opel’s appearance in Brussels signals a clear direction for 2026. The Astra remains the backbone of the brand, but it is now surrounded by a broader ecosystem of electric models, performance-oriented GSE variants and digital concepts, suggesting that compact cars will continue to play a central role in Opel’s electric future.
