Hyundai Presents the STARIA Electric MPV at Brussels Motor Show
Hyundai Motor Company presents the STARIA Electric MPV at the Brussels Motor Show, detailing its electric powertrain, fast charging and interior space. Learn
Hyundai brought the STARIA Electric to the Brussels Motor Show as a clear extension of its electrification strategy, but with a focus on a segment that has long remained underserved. The fully electric MPV, designed around space, versatility and fast charging, feels less like another addition to the lineup and more like an attempt to redefine expectations for large family and passenger vehicles.
As the first fully electric version of the STARIA, the model positions itself as a flagship in the multi-purpose vehicle segment. Its exterior reflects that ambition: a smooth, grille-free front, a full-width light signature and pixel-style LED rear lights create a distinct electric identity. At the same time, the tall body, long wheelbase and wide twin sliding doors leave no doubt that interior space is the vehicle’s core priority.
Space is where the STARIA Electric truly defines itself. A flat floor, high roofline and wide openings give the cabin an open, almost lounge-like feel. Hyundai will offer two configurations at launch: a 7-seat LUXURY version aimed at private and family use, and a 9-seat WAGON designed for shuttle services, taxis and group transport. Even with all seats in place, the rear remains practical, while the flexible interior layout allows the vehicle to adapt quickly to different needs.
The interior blends durability with comfort. Materials are clearly chosen for frequent use and easy cleaning, yet the cabin avoids a purely utilitarian atmosphere. The second row stands out in particular, featuring individual seats with electric adjustment, heating and ventilation, along with USB ports and Vehicle-to-Load functionality. This turns the STARIA Electric into more than a people carrier, offering a usable space for work, travel or extended journeys.
From a technical perspective, the focus remains on real-world usability. The STARIA Electric is powered by an 84 kWh battery and a 160 kW (218 PS) front-wheel-drive electric motor, delivering an estimated WLTP range of up to 400 kilometres. A key highlight is its 800-volt electrical architecture, which enables fast DC charging from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes, complemented by an 11 kW AC onboard charger for everyday use.
Unusually for an electric vehicle of this type, the STARIA Electric also offers a towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg. This significantly broadens its appeal, allowing it to handle trailers, caravans or boats and reinforcing its role as a genuinely versatile vehicle.
Technology further supports its everyday role. Hyundai equips the STARIA Electric with the latest ccNC infotainment system featuring over-the-air updates, Digital Key functionality and a comprehensive suite of Hyundai SmartSense driver-assistance systems. These features are designed to make driving and manoeuvring a large MPV more intuitive in urban traffic, on highways and in tight parking environments.
Production is set to take place at Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in Korea, with sales in Korea and Europe scheduled for the first half of 2026. Pricing has yet to be announced, but the STARIA Electric already targets a space where options remain limited. By combining a large, flexible interior with fast-charging electric technology, Hyundai positions the STARIA Electric as a potential catalyst for the wider adoption of electric multi-purpose vehicles.
