Opel enhances Grandland and Astra with ergonomic, sustainable seating

Opel introduces Intelli-Seat and ReNewKnit™ seats for Grandland and Astra, combining comfort, sustainability, and AGR-certified ergonomic design.
Opel has unveiled new seating technologies for its popular Grandland and Astra models, putting emphasis on comfort, ergonomics, and sustainability.
The Grandland now comes equipped with patented Intelli-Seat front seats featuring a central recess inspired by racing bike saddles. This design reduces pressure on the tailbone, catering especially to long-distance drivers. These innovative seats are also available in the new, budget-friendly Opel Frontera, expanding accessibility to advanced ergonomic comfort.
For those seeking an extra level of refinement in the Grandland, the high-end Intelli-Seat Pro is available. It adds adjustable side cushions, five massage programs, and three-stage ventilation options, all wrapped in luxurious Nappa leather for a premium feel.
In the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, drivers will find ergonomic active sport seats covered with ReNewKnit™ — a mono-material made entirely from recycled content. This suede-like fabric supports Opel’s ‘Greenovation’ strategy by being fully recyclable without the need for separating materials, reducing waste and lowering carbon emissions.
Standard Intelli-Seats in the Grandland and Frontera also feature recycled and sustainable seat cover fabrics, highlighting Opel’s commitment to responsible design choices.
All these seats are certified by the independent German association AGR for promoting spine health and long-distance comfort. Key features include ten-way electric seat adjustments, memory function, multi-level seat heating, extendable thigh support, and electro-pneumatic lumbar adjustments.
As of now, Opel has not disclosed which markets will receive these seat options as standard or optional equipment, nor has the company revealed pricing details or plans to expand the technology to other Stellantis brands.
Nevertheless, with industry recognition already in hand and a clear focus on innovation and user well-being, Opel continues to strengthen its position as a leader in practical, driver-centric technology.
