Compare the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Chevy Equinox EV, and more. Discover how price, range, and charging speed influence your EV choice.

Ford’s Mustang Mach-E is off to a strong start in 2025, emerging as one of the top-selling electric vehicles in the US. With 11,607 units sold in the first quarter — a 21% increase year-over-year — the Mach-E outsold not only the Honda Prologue and Hyundai Ioniq 5 but also every individual GM model, including the anticipated Chevy Equinox EV and Blazer EV.

One key to this success appears to be pricing. In a rare move amid rising car costs, Ford dropped the price of the base Mach-E Select to $36,495, undercutting several competitors, including the Equinox EV ($34,995). The base Mach-E delivers 264 horsepower and 260 miles of range with rear-wheel drive. Opting for the extended 88 kWh battery bumps the output to 325 hp and up to 320 miles of range.

Still, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is quickly becoming a favorite rival. Despite a higher base price of $42,600, the Korean crossover offers lightning-fast charging (10% to 80% in just 20 minutes), up to 318 miles of range, and a sleek tech-forward design. The performance-oriented Ioniq 5 N pushes output to an impressive 641 horsepower.

The Chevy Equinox EV shines in range — up to 319 miles — and affordability but falls behind in overall performance and functionality. Toyota’s bZ4X, meanwhile, maintains brand loyalty through its reputation for reliability but lags in range and earns mixed reviews from buyers.

When it comes to ownership costs, Hyundai leads with a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty, outpacing Ford and GM's 3-year terms. Insurance for the Mustang Mach-E averages $1,593 annually. Notably, in 2025, the Equinox EV retains eligibility for the full $7,500 federal tax credit, while the Mach-E may lose out due to new battery sourcing requirements.

User feedback reflects overall satisfaction. Mustang Mach-E owners praise the comfort and handling, though the Ioniq 5 slightly edges ahead in user ratings and brand loyalty.

Ultimately, choosing between the Mach-E and its rivals comes down to priorities. For budget-conscious buyers, Ford offers strong value — especially with high-performance GT and Rally trims. But for those focused on cutting-edge tech and rapid charging, Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 stands as a compelling alternative.
