Schubert Motorsport Prepares BMW M4 GT3 EVO for 2025 DTM Kickoff

Schubert Motorsport tests BMW M4 GT3 EVO with René Rast and Marco Wittmann before 2025 DTM opener. Learn how the team is preparing for title defense.
The official DTM pre-season tests have wrapped up at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, setting the tone for the upcoming 2025 championship. Schubert Motorsport, fielding two newly updated BMW M4 GT3 EVOs, used the opportunity to its fullest, with factory drivers Marco Wittmann and René Rast completing over 250 laps across two intensive test sessions.
The focus was clear: getting acquainted with the new Pirelli tyres and thoroughly evaluating the revised GT3 machinery. While the exterior may look familiar, significant upgrades lie beneath the surface. BMW enhanced the aerodynamics and employed weight-saving measures like a special coating in place of traditional paint. Suspension and brake systems were also refined, aiming for better tyre preservation and improved handling under race conditions.
Marco Wittmann, driving the #11 "Green Machine" in Schaeffler livery, clocked a best time of 1:23.091. His teammate René Rast, behind the wheel of the #33 BMW in RoboMarkets colours, followed closely with a 1:23.394. However, both drivers emphasized that lap times were not the priority. The primary goal was to gather meaningful data and understand the car’s behaviour on the new rubber.
BMW M Motorsport Head Andreas Roos reinforced this mindset: “The Pirelli tyres are new for everyone, so long-run testing is vital. We'll only find out our real performance level during the race weekend.” His comments highlight a cautious but calculated approach as the team builds momentum.
Another key development is the expanded partnership with brake specialist Endless, which has collaborated with BMW M Motorsport since 2020. Now officially supporting the entire GT3 programme, Endless brings critical expertise to optimize braking systems across various racing series.
For Schubert Motorsport, this test was more than a procedural step — it was about laying the groundwork for a title-defending campaign. As reigning DTM team champions, the Oschersleben-based outfit is gearing up to chase another crown in 2025 with precision, performance, and preparation on its side.
