2013 McLaren 12C Spider Appears on Cars & Bids Auction
A 2013 McLaren 12C Spider with low mileage and full service history is offered on Cars & Bids, highlighting an unmodified example of McLaren’s early road cars.
The auction on Cars & Bids is drawing to a close for a 2013 McLaren 12C Spider, a model widely regarded as a turning point in the modern road-car history of the British manufacturer. This particular example stands out thanks to a combination rarely seen on today’s market: low mileage, an unmodified factory specification, extensive service documentation, and effectively single ownership since new.
The odometer shows approximately 13,200 miles, and the seller has owned the car since May 2013, despite the Carfax report listing two owners. The vehicle history report shows no accidents or mileage inconsistencies, and the maintenance record is well documented. The most recent annual service was carried out in April 2025 and included routine maintenance, software updates, and brake system servicing.
The McLaren 12C marked a decisive moment for the brand, becoming the first fully in-house designed and built road car from McLaren Automotive since the legendary F1. Its carbon-fiber MonoCell chassis, twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8, and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission established the technical foundation for the company’s later models. The Spider version retained the structural rigidity of the coupe thanks to the car’s original architecture, with only a modest weight increase of around 40 kilograms due to the retractable hardtop.
This example features a selection of desirable factory options, including the Carbon Fiber Interior Upgrade, sport exhaust, full leather interior, and the Iris infotainment system paired with a Meridian sound system. Lightweight forged wheels with staggered diameters further complete the specification. According to the seller, the car remains completely unmodified, a detail that is often considered especially important for early McLaren models on the secondary market.
While some minor wear is noted on interior touchpoints, the overall condition reflects careful ownership and regular maintenance. In the auction comments, the seller also addressed earlier major service items, including a water pump replacement and a transmission replacement, both performed under warranty and not the result of operational failure.
At the time of writing, the high bid stands at $85,000, with bidding activity indicating steady interest. As unmodified, well-documented McLaren 12C examples become harder to find, cars like this are increasingly viewed not just as used supercars, but as significant milestones in the evolution of modern performance cars.
