2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Redefines Luxury with AI and DRIVE PILOT

Explore the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class with AI-powered MBUX, DRIVE PILOT automation, and bespoke MANUFAKTUR options. Discover the future of luxury driving.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated 2025 S-Class, aiming to redefine excellence in the luxury sedan segment. With expanded personalization options, smarter digital features, and a leap forward in automated driving, the model sets a high bar for its competitors.
One of the headline upgrades is the DRIVE PILOT system, now capable of conditionally automated driving at speeds up to 95 km/h on German autobahns—an improvement over the previous 60 km/h limit. Using over 35 sensors including LiDAR, cameras, radar, and ultrasonic detectors, the system offers precise environmental detection. A unique positioning technology ensures lane-level accuracy within just a few centimeters. DRIVE PILOT has been certified in Germany, Nevada, and California. No additional countries have been confirmed yet, though expansion is planned.
Equally noteworthy is the AI-enhanced MBUX infotainment system. Integrated with ChatGPT via Microsoft Azure, the voice assistant now enables more natural and contextual conversations. Drivers can ask follow-up questions and receive in-depth answers without taking their hands off the wheel. The system also gains Google satellite view for better navigation, and new entertainment apps like YouTube and Sony’s RIDEVU, the latter transforming the rear cabin into a cinematic lounge through the Entertainment Plus package.
For those seeking exclusivity, the MANUFAKTUR program has been globally expanded. More than 50 new exterior colors and 25 interior design options—ranging from intricate hand-stitching to premium wood inlays—are now available. Pricing varies by configuration, with the S 500 4MATIC base model starting at $117,750.
The new S-Class Edition brings a sporty and elegant touch, featuring black door handles, illuminated sills, Nappa leather interior, Burmester 3D audio, 20-inch AMG wheels, and—for the first time—a digital edition emblem within MBUX to mark its identity.
Market rollout begins in Europe in July 2024, followed by the U.S. in August and China in September. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz continues its "Because it’s Mercedes-Benz" campaign featuring brand ambassador Roger Federer, spotlighting the handcrafted precision and engineering finesse of the S-Class.
The 2025 S-Class is more than a car—it’s a fusion of heritage and innovation, setting a new benchmark for modern luxury.
