Hyundai Palisade was named 2026 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year by the NACTOY jury, highlighting hybrid efficiency, safety focus, and an expanded lineup.

The new-generation Hyundai Palisade has been named the 2026 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, earning one of the most influential automotive honors in North America. The award was decided by the independent NACTOY jury, consisting of 50 professional automotive journalists from the United States and Canada, with the results announced in Detroit in January 2026.

The jury highlighted the Palisade for its balanced combination of attributes that remain uncommon within the three-row SUV segment. These include a broadened powertrain lineup featuring both internal combustion and hybrid options, a redesigned and more premium interior layout, and a strong focus on family-oriented safety, comfort, and everyday usability.

The introduction of the Palisade Hybrid played a notable role in the model’s recognition. According to EPA data, the most efficient hybrid configuration delivers up to 34 mpg combined, with an estimated driving range of more than 600 miles. For a full-size family SUV, these figures position the Palisade as a competitive option in a segment where efficiency is becoming increasingly important.

Another key development for the 2026 model year is the arrival of the XRT PRO variant, which expands the Palisade lineup beyond traditional on-road use. The XRT PRO features increased ground clearance, revised approach and departure angles, a rear electronic limited-slip differential, and dedicated off-road driving modes, marking the most adventure-focused Palisade to date.

Market performance supports the award recognition. The Palisade recorded its strongest sales year ever in the United States in 2025, with both retail and total sales showing double-digit growth. The expanded lineup, including the hybrid and XRT PRO versions, has allowed Hyundai to address a wider range of customer needs within the large SUV category.

The NACTOY win reinforces the Palisade’s position as a leading contender in the North American full-size SUV segment and may further strengthen its standing as consumer interest continues to shift toward versatile and electrified family vehicles.
