Skoda Presents the Updated Kushaq with New Design and Features

Skoda has presented the updated Kushaq facelift, adding new design elements, expanded features and technical updates. Explore what has changed in the compact SUV.

The updated Skoda Kushaq demonstrates how a facelift can reshape a model’s character without rewriting its identity. Rather than starting from scratch, the compact SUV builds on familiar foundations, refining its design, technology and everyday usability in a measured and deliberate way.

The most noticeable changes appear at the front. A revised grille with vertical chrome ribs is now paired with a connected lighting signature, while LED technology has replaced halogen units throughout the exterior. Chrome has not disappeared entirely, but it no longer dominates, allowing light to become a key visual element. The update feels evolutionary rather than radical, with body panels and proportions largely unchanged.

At the rear, the Kushaq adopts a more technical look. Slimmer taillights are linked by a light strip featuring illuminated Skoda lettering, marking a first for a production model from the brand. A redesigned bumper and sharper light graphics further align the SUV with Skoda’s newer design direction.

Mechanical updates are among the most significant improvements. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine continues, now available with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission, an uncommon offering in this segment. A six-speed manual remains an option. The more powerful 1.5 TSI version is paired with a seven-speed DSG and gains rear disc brakes, reinforcing its more dynamic positioning.

Overall dimensions remain unchanged, with a length of just over 4.2 metres and a wheelbase of around 2.65 metres. However, revised alloy wheels, updated trim elements and subtle body cladding changes give the Kushaq a cleaner, more cohesive appearance. The Monte Carlo variant takes this further, adding gloss black finishes, red accents and a more assertive visual character.

Inside, the focus shifts towards functionality and comfort. Standard versions introduce a beige interior, while the Monte Carlo adopts a darker theme with red stitching and distinctive trim. Hard plastics are still widely used, but the equipment list has expanded noticeably. A panoramic sunroof is now available even on lower trims, alongside features such as a rain sensor, rear wiper and rear window defogger.

The rear seat stands out as a highlight of the update. Space is generous, the floor is nearly flat, and amenities include rear air vents, USB-C charging ports, ISOFIX mounts and a central armrest. Most notably, the Kushaq now offers a rear seat massage function, a rare feature in this class that significantly enhances comfort on longer journeys.

Up front, the cabin gains a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment display. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in apps, streaming services and voice control enhanced by artificial intelligence. Crucially, Skoda has retained physical buttons for key functions, improving usability in everyday driving.

Boot capacity is now quoted at 491 litres when measured up to the roof without the parcel shelf, increasing to 1,405 litres with the 40:60 split rear seats folded. Practical details such as hooks, straps and fixings remain, underlining the model’s everyday focus.

The Monte Carlo version adds further distinction through a black headliner, metal pedals, unique instrument graphics and specific settings for the 1.5 TSI. Despite its sportier presentation, it remains a practical and versatile option rather than a niche performance variant.

Overall, the refreshed Skoda Kushaq reflects a careful response to customer feedback. With improved technology, broader equipment and enhanced rear-seat comfort, the update strengthens the model’s position without resorting to dramatic changes. It is a clear example of thoughtful evolution, aimed at keeping the Kushaq competitive as it moves into the next stage of its lifecycle.
