MINI Paul Smith Edition unveiled by BMW Group for Cooper models

BMW Group has unveiled the MINI Paul Smith Edition, marking a new chapter in the long-standing collaboration with British designer Paul Smith. The project brings together MINI’s instantly recognisable design and Smith’s philosophy of “Classic with a Twist”, blending familiar forms with unexpected details and subtle humour.

The new edition spans the entire MINI Cooper family, including three-door and five-door models, the Convertible, and electric variants. The first model to reach the roads is the fully electric MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith Edition, which is already available in selected markets. With front-wheel drive and an output of 218 hp (160 kW), it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, combining distinctive design with locally emission-free driving.

Visually, the series stands out through exclusive colour schemes developed specifically for this edition. Midnight Black, Inspired White and Statement Grey form the core palette, while key exterior details such as mirror caps, the octagonal grille and wheel hub caps are finished in Nottingham Green, a reference to the designer’s hometown. Paul Smith’s signature stripes appear on the roof and selected accents, reinterpreted in a restrained black and graphite finish. The look is completed by 18-inch Night Flash Spoke Black alloy wheels.

The interior is identical across all variants and balances understated British elegance with playful creative touches. Nightshade Blue seats, knitted surfaces with subtle striped patterns, a welcoming light projection reading “Hello”, and the message “Every day is a new beginning” on the door sill create a distinctive atmosphere. Signature stripes on the steering wheel and a hand-drawn rabbit graphic — Paul Smith’s personal trademark — reinforce the individual character of the edition.

While the electric MINI Cooper Paul Smith Edition is already on sale in selected markets, the MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper 5-Door and MINI Cooper Convertible Paul Smith Edition will follow from Q2 2026. The series is not positioned as a strictly limited run, suggesting it is intended not only as a design statement but also as a broader image-building product. With its wide model range and phased market launch, MINI appears to be betting on sustained interest in special editions where design plays a central role alongside technology.
