Kloiber deploys MAN eTGX electric trucks in MAN inbound network
MAN reports that logistics provider Kloiber has begun operating MAN eTGX electric trucks in inbound transport between Nuremberg and Munich. Read the details.
The logistics company Kloiber has begun shifting MAN’s inbound transport operations to electric drive, putting the first of a total of 15 MAN eTGX electric trucks into regular service. The vehicles operate between MAN’s plants in Nuremberg and Munich, covering a round trip of around 328 kilometres. Among other goods, batteries for the production of the MAN eTruck are transported on this route.
The eTGX trucks complete four to six round trips per day, travelling a total of around 1,300 to 1,900 kilometres. When powered by electricity from renewable sources, their locally emission-free operation is expected to save up to 566 tonnes of CO₂ per year. The project forms part of MAN’s broader strategy to decarbonise its inbound logistics network, which covers up to 165 million kilometres annually.
To support electric operations, charging infrastructure has been expanded at the MAN plants in Nuremberg and Munich, alongside the installation of high-performance charging stations at the MAN service centre in Munich-Karlsfeld. The MAN site in Dachau has also been equipped with suitable charging facilities. In parallel, Kloiber has commissioned its own charging park for commercial vehicles in Petershausen near Dachau, featuring ten charging points with capacities of up to 500 kW each.
The project uses the fully electric MAN eTGX in the Ultra-Low-Liner configuration. With a fifth-wheel height of 950 mm and a wheelbase of 3.75 metres, the truck is designed for automotive logistics, where maximising load volume is essential and trailers with interior heights of up to three metres are required.
The deployment of electric trucks by Kloiber is embedded in MAN’s wider inbound electrification programme. At the beginning of 2025, a tender was launched for the use of battery-electric vehicles on the first 40 inbound routes, with several routes awarded to Kloiber and others to additional logistics providers. The process was supported by MAN Transport Solutions, which assisted with route selection and charging concepts based on range, energy consumption data and operational feasibility.
