Mercedes-AMG Begins Winter Testing of Second Mythos Series Car

Mercedes-AMG has begun cold-weather testing in Sweden with a new production model that has yet to be officially unveiled. Even under heavy camouflage and the dim light of a Scandinavian winter, the car’s extreme character is immediately apparent. The tests are taking place close to the Arctic Circle, where severe cold and low-grip surfaces provide the most demanding conditions.

Cold-weather testing in northern Sweden is a crucial phase in vehicle development. In these conditions, Mercedes-AMG validates the reliability and performance of all key components, ensuring that the car delivers consistent behaviour and durability even at the lowest temperatures.

While the prototype clearly shows a visual and conceptual connection to the CLE series, Mercedes-AMG stresses that this is far more than a derivative model. The new vehicle takes the familiar concept several steps further, positioning itself as a more uncompromising and expressive statement on the road, supported by a correspondingly powerful drivetrain and performance focus.

The project also carries strategic significance for the brand. The camouflaged test vehicle will become the second model in the exclusive Mercedes-Benz Mythos series, a range of strictly limited collector cars. The first Mythos model, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, set the tone with its radical open two-seater design, featuring no roof and no windshield.

The appearance of a second Mythos model in intensive testing signals the continued expansion of this exclusive lineup. Although Mercedes-AMG has not yet released technical specifications or a premiere date, the scale and intensity of the cold-weather programme suggest that the project has moved well beyond the conceptual stage and into advanced preparation for series production.
