BMW Group reports that the updated MINI Countryman E will offer over 500 km of electric range from March 2026. Explore the key technical changes.

From March 2026, the all-electric MINI Countryman enters a new phase of everyday usability, as the Countryman E becomes the first MINI model to exceed 500 kilometres of electric range under the WLTP cycle. According to BMW Group, the updated version reaches up to 501 kilometres, marking a new benchmark for the brand’s electric lineup.

The extended range is the result of a comprehensive technical update rather than a single modification. At the core of the upgrade is a new silicon carbide (SiC) inverter, designed to reduce energy losses during power conversion and improve overall drivetrain efficiency. This is complemented by an increase in the usable capacity of the high-voltage battery to 65.2 kWh, along with friction-reduced wheel bearings on the front axle that lower rolling resistance.

Together, these measures not only increase driving range but also contribute to improved energy consumption figures. From March 2026, the MINI Countryman E is rated at 14.7 to 16.4 kWh/100 km (WLTP). The all-wheel-drive MINI Countryman SE ALL4 offers a range of up to 467 kilometres, while maintaining zero local CO₂ emissions.

Versatility remains a defining characteristic of the MINI Countryman. Despite its compact SUV footprint, the model offers generous interior space and a luggage compartment with a maximum capacity of 1,450 litres, making it suitable for daily use as well as longer journeys. Fast DC charging further enhances its practicality, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.

Aerodynamics also play a role in the efficiency gains. With a drag coefficient of 0.26, achieved through optimised body design and aerodynamic wheel concepts, the electric Countryman benefits particularly at higher speeds. Specific design elements and optional trim packages visually reinforce the model’s modern and electric identity.

Inside, digitalisation takes centre stage. A 24 cm OLED display serves as the main interface for infotainment and driver assistance systems. MINI confirms support for driving assistance functions up to Level 2, focusing on comfort and safety during everyday driving.

With its extended range, improved efficiency and unchanged focus on versatility, the updated MINI Countryman E is positioned to play a central role in the brand’s electric strategy, especially in markets where long-distance capability remains a decisive factor for electric vehicle adoption.
