BMW Group reports on spring 2026 updates, including improved EV efficiency, new charging options and technical revisions to meet future Euro 7 standards.

BMW Group is rolling out a wide-ranging update to its model lineup for spring 2026, combining efficiency gains, regulatory preparation and expanded standard equipment across multiple segments.

For the compact electric BMW iX1 and BMW iX2, the focus is on improved efficiency. Both models will adopt new power electronics using silicon-carbide inverters. According to BMW, this technology reduces energy consumption in the WLTP cycle and increases driving range by around 40 kilometres, depending on the variant. The update applies to both eDrive20 and xDrive30 versions and highlights the growing role of advanced power electronics in extending electric range.

The BMW iX3 receives a notable functional upgrade. From spring 2026, the model will be available with the AC Charging Professional option, enabling AC charging at up to 22 kW. The package also includes a Vehicle-to-Load function, allowing the vehicle to supply external electrical devices with up to 3.7 kW of power. Alongside the charging upgrade, the iX3 range will be expanded with new exterior colours and additional interior and equipment enhancements, including features linked to the M Sport packages.

BMW M is addressing future emissions requirements well ahead of their introduction. Updated drive technology will be introduced for the BMW M5 and BMW XM Label to ensure compliance with the upcoming Euro 7 standard. The changes focus on the combustion engine within the M Hybrid system and include optimised engine management, enhanced exhaust aftertreatment and the adoption of the Miller combustion process. While the V8 engine in the BMW M5 will see a reduction in output, overall system power remains unchanged, preserving the car’s performance character.

Further updates extend to volume models. From spring 2026, the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will feature two-zone automatic air conditioning as standard. A number of models will also receive the Tyre Repair Kit Plus as standard equipment, offering a faster solution in the event of a puncture.

All of these changes are accompanied by a subtle but brand-wide visual update. From February 2026, every BMW model will feature the new BMW emblem on the bonnet, marking a unified design step that coincides with the introduction of the updated BMW M logo.
