Polyphony Digital has officially announced a collaboration with Xiaomi, confirming that the flagship electric vehicle Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will become part of the Gran Turismo ecosystem and will arrive in Gran Turismo 7 in a future update. The announcement was made on June 7 and marks the first public step in the partnership between the iconic racing franchise and the Chinese technology company.

Headquartered in Beijing, Xiaomi entered the electric vehicle market in 2021 and introduced its first production car, the SU7, in 2024. The SU7 Ultra stands as the flagship sports model of the lineup, delivering an output equivalent to approximately 1,500 horsepower.

As part of the collaboration, special attention is drawn to the SU7 Ultra Prototype, which was developed with record-setting performance in mind. The prototype captured global attention after setting a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record for four-door electric vehicles, posting a time of 6:46.874.

Polyphony Digital also confirmed that the partnership goes beyond the integration of the SU7 Ultra into Gran Turismo 7. Xiaomi’s next project within the collaboration will be the creation of a dedicated Vision Gran Turismo concept car, continuing the series’ tradition of showcasing ambitious virtual automotive designs.

Xiaomi Group Founder, Director and CEO Lei Jun highlighted the shared philosophy between Xiaomi and Gran Turismo, emphasizing the use of technology to create a better and more enjoyable life. He expressed his hope that Gran Turismo players and car culture enthusiasts would experience the appeal of Xiaomi’s high-performance intelligent vehicle, while also pointing to the rapid growth of the Chinese automotive industry.

Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi described his admiration for Xiaomi’s transition from consumer electronics to automotive manufacturing, noting that the creation of the SU7 and the record-breaking SU7 Ultra Prototype resonated strongly with the values of Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital.
