Skoda presented the camouflaged Epiq electric urban SUV in Porto, revealing MEB+ platform details, up to 430 km WLTP range, and fast charging specs.

Skoda has brought its upcoming electric crossover, the Epiq, onto the streets of Porto for its first public appearance — still wrapped in camouflage, but already drawing attention. For the brand, this is more than just another model reveal: it is a clear step toward making electric mobility truly accessible in one of the most competitive segments, the urban crossover market.

The production version of the Skoda Epiq is expected to become a key player among compact SUVs, with pricing in many markets projected to be close to that of its combustion-engine counterpart, the Skoda Kamiq. That positioning makes sense, as cost remains one of the biggest barriers for customers considering a move to electric vehicles.

The Epiq is built on the new MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive, developed specifically for smaller electric vehicles within the Volkswagen Group. Buyers will be able to choose between three power outputs, ranging from 85 kW to 155 kW, and two battery options with gross capacities of 38.5 kWh and 55 kWh. In its most powerful form, the Epiq 55 is rated for up to 430 km of WLTP driving range and supports DC fast charging of up to 133 kW.

Skoda also highlights its aerodynamic development work, claiming a drag coefficient of cx = 0.275 — an impressive figure for a compact crossover. This is supported by active air flaps discreetly integrated into the front bumper, along with specially designed wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches.

Although the prototype remains disguised, the next evolution of Skoda’s Modern Solid design language is already visible. One standout detail is the front “Volcano line” with oval air inlets, while the Tech-Deck Face front grille is paired with newly shaped T-style headlights. LED headlights come as standard, and Matrix LED units with 12 segments will be available as an option.

Inside, the Epiq continues the brand’s minimalistic approach. Driving information is displayed on a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while a 13-inch central touchscreen comes as standard for navigation and key vehicle functions. Sustainability plays a major role in the cabin, with all design selections featuring seat upholstery made from 100% recycled textiles. The top Suite trim introduces embossed Suedia material combined with Techtona synthetic leather.

From a practical standpoint, the Epiq aims to deliver strong everyday usability. The crossover measures 4171 mm in length and offers a boot capacity of 475 litres, making it a competitive option in the compact EV crossover category.

Safety and driver assistance technology are also positioned at a high level. The Epiq can be equipped with up to nine airbags, including a central airbag between the front seats. Driver-support systems include Travel Assist 3.0, which can respond to traffic signs and traffic lights, as well as a panoramic camera system designed to simplify parking in tight urban environments.

Ultimately, the Skoda Epiq is shaping up to be a cornerstone of the brand’s strategy as it expands its fully electric portfolio. If the promised mix of range, efficiency, and pricing carries over into the final production model, the Epiq could become the electric Skoda designed not for a niche audience, but for everyday mainstream buyers.
