Mazda North American Operations reported 28,958 January 2026 sales, down 14% year over year, while CX-50 posted record January deliveries. Learn the details.

Mazda North American Operations reported its third-best January sales result in company history, delivering 28,958 vehicles in the U.S. during January 2026. While the figure remains one of Mazda’s strongest January performances on record, overall sales declined by 14% compared with January 2025.

The company noted that on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis, the drop was even sharper at 17.3%. Mazda also pointed out that January 2026 included 26 selling days versus 25 a year earlier, a calendar difference that influenced the year-over-year comparison.

The standout performer of the month was the CX-50. Mazda posted its best-ever January result for the model, selling 10,415 units, making it the key contributor behind the brand’s historically strong monthly total. At the same time, several other models recorded notable declines, including the CX-30 and CX-90, as well as the MX-5 Miata.

Another positive signal came from Mazda’s certified pre-owned business. Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales reached 6,109 vehicles in January, marking a 15.6% increase year over year and reflecting continued demand for Mazda vehicles in the used-car market.

Outside the United States, results were stronger. Mazda Canada reported January sales of 4,974 vehicles, up 4.9% compared with the same month last year. In Mexico, Mazda Motor de Mexico delivered 8,704 vehicles, representing an 11% increase year over year.

Although Mazda’s U.S. total declined compared with last year, the record-setting CX-50 performance and growth in Canada and Mexico suggest that demand remains solid for the brand’s strongest products. If this momentum continues, Mazda could see more stable results later in 2026 than January’s headline decline may initially indicate.
