MAN Truck & Bus wins three categories at Spain’s National Transport Awards, including Truck, Coach and Minibus of the Year. Read the full results.

In early February in Madrid, MAN Truck & Bus achieved what can fairly be described as a symbolic milestone in the Spanish commercial vehicle market: the company secured victories in all three key categories of the National Transport Awards. The honors went to a truck, a touring coach and a minibus, effectively covering the brand’s entire transport portfolio.

The title “Truck of the Year in Spain” was awarded to the MAN TGX D30 PowerLion. At the heart of the model is the new 13-litre six-cylinder D30 (D3066) engine, which, according to the manufacturer, reaches a maximum efficiency of over 50 percent. Combined with the new MAN TipMatic 14 transmission and aerodynamic refinements, the driveline reduces fuel consumption by around five percent compared with the previous D26 generation. In an independent consumption test cited by the company, this reduction was confirmed — a figure that matters not only for fuel costs but also in the context of increasing CO₂ differentiation in European toll systems.

In the coach segment, the fully electric MAN Lion’s Coach E was named “Coach of the Year in Spain.” The vehicle features a modular battery concept with four, five or six packs, offering a usable energy capacity between 320 and 480 kWh. MAN states a range of up to 650 kilometers under optimal conditions. Charging via CCS is possible at up to 375 kW, enabling a full charge in roughly one and a half hours, with future integration of the MCS standard expected to allow up to 750 kW. The battery modules are produced at MAN’s plant in Nuremberg, while series production of the coach is being prepared at the company’s facility in Ankara, underlining that the project has moved beyond the concept phase.

The third award, “Minibus of the Year in Spain,” went to the MAN TGE with Burillo bodywork. The 2025 model year, known as Next Level, has undergone a comprehensive technical upgrade. Its electrical and electronic architecture has been fundamentally renewed, introducing new control units, sensors and cameras that expand the range of driver assistance systems and enhance safety. A fully digital instrument cluster and the central MAN Media Van touchscreen come as standard, while the redesigned dashboard improves ergonomics and interior space.

The National Transport Awards have been presented for more than 35 years. A jury of 886 transport entrepreneurs and automotive experts selects the winners based on a comprehensive evaluation of safety, reliability, profitability and efficiency — criteria closely aligned with real-world operating conditions.

MAN’s triple success in Spain reflects a strategic balance: advancing diesel efficiency with the D30 PowerLion, introducing a fully electric long-distance coach, and modernizing its light commercial vehicle range. In a European transport sector undergoing rapid transformation, this outcome highlights the manufacturer’s ability to compete simultaneously in both conventional and electric segments.
