MINI Showcases All-Electric John Cooper Works Models at Auto Shanghai 2025

MINI launches JCW Electric and Aceman at Auto Shanghai 2025, blending racing heritage with electric innovation. Discover specs and tech insights.
At Auto Shanghai 2025, MINI electrified the stage — both literally and figuratively — by unveiling the next-generation John Cooper Works lineup. The spotlight was on two fully electric newcomers: the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman. Far from a mere update, these models signal a bold new chapter where the brand's motorsport DNA meets a future rooted in performance, innovation, and sustainability.
The compact yet athletic JCW Aceman illustrates how MINI continues to maximize interior space within a minimal footprint — now with electric power. With a top speed of 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds, it shares its electric heart with the JCW Electric, which does the same sprint in only 5.9 seconds. Both vehicles feature a usable battery capacity of 49.2 kWh and support fast charging up to 95 kW.
MINI’s display area, drenched in bold red hues, paid homage to its racing heritage. Alongside the futuristic models stood icons of the past: a classic Mini from the Monte Carlo Rally and the JCW Pro that triumphed in its class at the Nürburgring 24 Hours race.
Adding versatility to performance, the JCW Countryman ALL4 brings spaciousness and comfort to the JCW family, while the MINI Cooper Convertible made its auto show debut — a stylish nod to MINI’s “Always Open” spirit.
A notable innovation was the debut of the exclusive John Cooper Works Mode within MINI Experience Modes. This setting transforms the driving atmosphere with immersive lighting, sound, and dynamic visuals, evoking the sensation of a race cockpit.
Also on display: the JCW Lifestyle Collection 2025, featuring apparel and accessories that extend the brand’s racing flair into everyday wear.
MINI’s move toward electrification is part of a broader commitment: by the early 2030s, the brand aims to become fully electric. Backed by substantial investment in its Oxford plant and sustainable production measures — from solar power to recycled aluminum wheels — MINI’s transformation is well underway. These new models aren’t just fast; they’re forward-thinking, authentic, and undeniably MINI.
