Madrid will host an ABB FIA Formula E World Championship round for the first time, officially titled the 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix. Spanish brand CUPRA has been named Title Partner of the race, scheduled for 21 March 2026 at the historic Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE. For the capital, the event marks the long-awaited debut of the world’s leading electric racing series on one of Spain’s most recognised circuits.

Jarama carries a rich motorsport legacy, having hosted the Spanish Grand Prix between 1968 and 1981 and undergoing several modernisation phases since. It is now preparing to welcome a fully electric championship. The exact Formula E layout has not yet been published, with the official event page noting that the track map is still to come. However, the series has previously conducted testing at the venue, indicating that preparations for electric competition are already underway.

The Madrid race will form Round 6 of the 2025/26 season. The championship began on 6 December 2025 in São Paulo and features a 17-race calendar including cities such as Mexico City, Berlin, Monaco, Shanghai, Tokyo and London. Madrid’s inclusion places Spain firmly within this global electric racing framework.

For the CUPRA KIRO team, the Jarama event will represent its first race in Spain. The line-up includes Team Principal Russell O’Hagan and drivers Pepe Martí and Dan Ticktum. Official communications highlight that the 2024/25 season proved transformative for the squad, delivering its first pole position, first podium and first race victory. The specific rounds where those milestones occurred are not detailed in the published materials, but the achievements are confirmed by official sources.

The weekend will also spotlight the CUPRA Raval, the brand’s forthcoming urban electric model. CUPRA has stated that the car will debut in three exclusive launch editions, with full technical specifications to be announced closer to its world premiere. While media reports refer to projected power outputs and battery options, final manufacturer-confirmed figures have not yet been fully disclosed. At the Madrid E-Prix, the model will be presented in dedicated fan areas, offering visitors an early physical encounter with the vehicle.

Organisers outline a full day programme including practice sessions, qualifying and the race itself, complemented by a Fan Village featuring simulators, live performances and interactive activities. On 21 March 2026, Jarama will therefore serve not only as a competitive arena, but also as a platform highlighting the ongoing development of electric mobility in Spain.

The arrival of Formula E in Madrid reflects the championship’s expanding geography and reinforces the city’s position within the international motorsport landscape. For CUPRA, the event creates a visible link between its road-going electric ambitions and top-level electric racing.
