Robert de Haan secures back-to-back victories at Imola in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland

Robert de Haan starts 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup season with two wins at Imola, leading the standings and highlighting Proton Huber’s strong debut.
At just 18 years old, Robert de Haan kicked off the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland season in dominant fashion. On the historic Imola circuit in Italy, the Dutchman delivered a flawless performance: two pole positions, two wins, and the championship lead — a dream start by any measure.
A recent addition to Proton Huber Competition, de Haan credited his team for the success, calling it a “perfect weekend.” His path to this moment is already impressive. From karting championships and a Ginetta Junior title to stints in Formula 4, the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, and the Supercup, de Haan has steadily built momentum. In 2024, he finished runner-up in the German Cup and was named Rookie Champion in the Supercup — clear signs of a rising star.
While de Haan cruised in front, the real drama unfolded behind him. Dutchman Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT) and Frenchman Marvin Klein (Proton Huber) battled fiercely for second place. Schuring, a champion of the Sprint Challenge Southern Europe and Rookie of the Year in the 2024 Carrera Cup, ultimately edged out Klein to secure second place and the Talent Pool top honors. Klein, despite a challenging Saturday, was satisfied with third, citing improved car balance.
Proton Huber Competition had more to celebrate, with Klein securing the final podium spot and the team jumping to the top of the standings. Consistent performances came from Huub van Eijndhoven (GP Elite) in fourth, followed by Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti and teammate Kas Haverkort.
In the Rookie classification, Brazilian Matheus Ferreira (Target) stood out, claiming victory in only his second Carrera Cup race after switching from single-seaters. He was followed by Sacha Norden and Austria’s Raphael Rennhofer. Meanwhile, veteran driver Michael Schrey (Bonk Motorsport) made a winning debut in the ProAm class, beating Michael Essmann and Australia’s Sam Shahin to the podium.
Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, attended the race and congratulated the winners, noting the impressive depth of talent in both the Rookie and ProAm categories. The next rounds are set for May 9–10 at Belgium’s iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where the championship is poised to heat up even further.
