Genesis Invitational 2026 Marks 100th Playing at Riviera
The Genesis Invitational 2026 returns to Riviera for its 100th playing as a PGA TOUR Signature Event. Learn key details on field, charity efforts and more.
In February 2026, The Genesis Invitational returns to The Riviera Country Club — the historic Pacific Palisades venue where the Los Angeles Open began nearly a century ago. This edition is designated as the tournament’s 100th playing, underscoring its position as one of the PGA TOUR’s longest-running and most recognizable events.
Genesis enters its 10th consecutive year as title partner alongside the PGA TOUR and TGR Live, with the partnership officially extended through 2030. Over the past decade, the relationship has expanded beyond a single tournament, with Genesis serving as the first global Official Vehicle of the PGA TOUR and the Official Mobility Partner across its properties.
The 2026 tournament begins on February 19 and carries PGA TOUR Signature Event status. In 2026, eight events share this designation, each featuring a limited field, a $20 million purse, and 700 FedExCup points awarded to the winner. As a result, the field at Riviera is expected to include 18 of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, highlighted by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and World No. 2 Rory McIlroy. Recent champions Ludvig Åberg (2025) and Hideki Matsuyama (2024) are also set to compete, alongside leading Korean PGA TOUR players Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim.
Riviera Country Club, designed by George C. Thomas Jr. and William P. Bell, has hosted major championships including the 1948 U.S. Open and multiple PGA Championships. It is also scheduled to stage golf competitions during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, reinforcing its global standing. The centennial playing of the tournament at this venue strengthens the sense of historical continuity.
Beyond competition, the event continues to advance California Rises, an initiative launched in 2025 by Genesis, the PGA TOUR, and TGR Live following devastating Southern California wildfires. Since its inception, the program has generated more than $8 million in vehicle and financial contributions. In 2026, Genesis will add an additional $1 million to support long-term recovery, benefiting organizations including the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.
The Birdies for Good program will again connect on-course performance with community impact. Genesis will donate $1,000 for every birdie or eagle on holes 10, 14, 16, 17, and 18, while a hole-in-one on holes 14 or 16 will trigger a $25,000 contribution. In 2025, the initiative recorded 868 birdies and eagles along with two holes-in-one, generating an additional $279,800.
The tournament champion will receive a 2026 GV80 Coupe Prestige Black. According to official specifications for the 3.5T e-Supercharger Prestige Black model, the vehicle features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 paired with a 48-volt electric supercharger, producing 409 horsepower, along with distinctive gloss-black exterior elements.
Guests at Riviera will also be able to view other Genesis vehicles, including the GV60 Magma, the first road-ready model from the Magma performance program with output of up to 641 horsepower, as well as the Genesis X Gran Equator Concept unveiled in 2025.
Throughout the tournament, Genesis emphasizes its Korean hospitality philosophy known as “Son-nim”, meaning “honored guest.” The concept shapes player services, dedicated lounges, and expanded fan experiences across the course.
As the tournament marks its 100th playing and continues under an extended partnership through 2030, the 2026 edition reflects both tradition and a modern Signature Event structure. The combination of elite competition, community engagement, and long-term strategic alignment suggests that Genesis’ presence within the PGA TOUR ecosystem will remain a sustained and defining element in the years ahead.
