Manthey Expands to Three Porsche 911 GT3 R Entries for 2025 DTM Title Hunt

Manthey fields three Porsche 911 GT3 R cars for the 2025 DTM season, targeting titles with Preining, Güven, and Schuring. Discover the new challenges and strategy.
The Manthey team returns to the DTM championship with bold ambitions: for the 2025 season, they will field three Porsche 911 GT3 R cars instead of two. This move reflects serious intent and a strategic approach. Thomas Preining, the 2023 DTM champion, Ayhancan Güven, who made significant progress during the second half of last season, and young Dutch talent Morris Schuring, making his series debut, form the backbone of the squad.
Pre-season tests at Oschersleben fuel optimism: Preining posted the fastest lap time, breaking the 1:22-minute barrier. Manthey, who won the Pit Stop Challenge in 2024, clearly intends to maintain its hallmark qualities of tactical flexibility, teamwork, and high preparation standards.
Technically, the 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 R has undergone aerodynamic and performance balance improvements, promising even more assured handling on track. Another crucial element is the new Pirelli tyres featuring FSC-certified natural rubber, offering a wider operating window for grip and improved warm-up behavior.
The race format has also been revamped: races are now reduced to 55 minutes plus one lap, with double mandatory pit stops on Sundays, introducing deeper strategic complexity and excitement. Additionally, all DTM cars now run on synthetic fuel supplied by P1 Fuels, significantly reducing the championship's carbon footprint.
Among Manthey’s toughest competitors are Abt Sportsline with Lamborghini and Winward with Mercedes-AMG. However, based on testing results and past successes, Manthey EMA appears well-positioned to contend for driver, team, and manufacturer titles once again.
For Morris Schuring, debuting in DTM marks a major career milestone following standout victories in the Porsche Carrera Cup and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The team believes the young driver will quickly find his footing among the elite.
The season opener is set for April 25–27 in Oschersleben. With new rules, intensified competition, and a strong push towards sustainability, the 2025 DTM season promises to be one of the most exciting in recent history.
