Ford Pro introduces the Transit Custom Grey Platinum, a 233 PS plug-in hybrid van with up to 57 km electric range, sport styling and double-cab option. Learn more.

Ford Pro is expanding the Transit Custom line-up with the new Grey Platinum variant, a version that blends everyday utility with a distinctly expressive design. The model is aimed at entrepreneurs who view their van not only as a business tool, but also as an extension of personal identity.

Underneath the styling upgrades lies the familiar architecture of the all-new Transit Custom. Grey Platinum is available both as a panel van and as a double-cab configuration, and in both cases it features the same plug-in hybrid powertrain. The system delivers 233 PS, combining a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. A 11.8 kWh (usable) NMC lithium-ion battery pack with 96 cells enables a pure electric driving range of up to 55–57 km (WLTP). Official figures for the PHEV variants indicate CO₂ emissions between 33 and 50 g/km WLTP, with a combined fuel consumption of 1.4–2.2 l/100 km WLTP.

The drivetrain supports multiple operating modes — EV Now, EV Auto, EV Later and EV Charge — allowing drivers to prioritise electric driving or preserve battery energy depending on route demands. Charging is handled via a Type 2 connector; at 3.7 kW, a full charge can take around three and a half hours, depending on the power source. For professional use, Pro Power Onboard can supply up to 2.3 kW of exportable energy for tools and equipment.

Practical capability remains central to the concept. The Transit Custom Grey Platinum offers a payload of up to 1.2 tonnes and a towing capacity of up to 2.3 tonnes. With its front-mounted engine, underfloor battery placement and front-wheel drive layout, the van retains a cargo volume of approximately 5.8 to 6.8 cubic metres depending on wheelbase configuration.

Where the Grey Platinum distinguishes itself most clearly is in its appearance. Front and rear splitters, side skirts, an integrated roof spoiler, matt-black striping with red accents and black 17-inch wheels create a more performance-inspired silhouette without compromising functionality. Inside, black eco-leather upholstery with contrasting Grey Platinum stitching sets the tone, while the double-cab version adds individual rear seats and refined trim panels between the C and D pillars.

The vehicle was developed in cooperation with Snoeks Automotive, a specialist in professional light commercial vehicle conversions and a participant in the Ford Pro Convertor programme. This collaboration ensures that design modifications align with manufacturer standards for quality, safety and certification.

Taxation also plays a role in the overall proposition. In the Netherlands, vehicle-related taxes such as BPM are linked to CO₂ output, and bijtelling rates for 2026 differentiate according to emission levels. As a result, the plug-in hybrid configuration represents not only a technological choice, but also a fiscal consideration for business users.

The Transit Custom Grey Platinum is now open for orders, with first deliveries expected from April 2026. Its positioning reflects Ford Pro’s broader push within the electrified one-tonne van segment, where efficiency metrics increasingly share importance with design identity.
