BMW and Schubert Motorsport Impress with Comebacks at Oschersleben

Schubert Motorsport and BMW started the 2025 DTM season with strong performances at Oschersleben. Read about their comebacks and season prospects.
Schubert Motorsport made a strong start to the 2025 DTM season, securing valuable points at their home event in Oschersleben. Despite challenging qualifying sessions, René Rast and Marco Wittmann delivered impressive comebacks, finishing the weekend inside the top six.
Rast, behind the wheel of the #33 RoboMarkets BMW M4 GT3 EVO, charged from 15th on the grid to fifth place on Sunday, thanks to strong race pace and an outstanding first pit stop. Although a minor delay during the second mandatory stop cost him some time, he still brought home the team's best result of the weekend. On Saturday, he was forced to retire due to a technical issue.
Marco Wittmann, driving the #11 Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3 EVO, also showed his experience and determination. He climbed from tenth to eighth in the first race and impressively gained seven positions to finish sixth in the second. After the first DTM event, Wittmann stands seventh in the drivers' standings, with Rast in twelfth place.
The points gained are even more valuable considering the nature of the Oschersleben circuit. Motorsport Arena is known as one of the most technical and demanding tracks on the calendar. Its narrow turns, limited overtaking zones, and emphasis on traction out of hairpins do not favor heavier, aerodynamically-focused cars like the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Even top teams like Schubert Motorsport must fight for every position here.
Following the opening event, Schubert Motorsport holds fifth place in the team standings, maintaining solid prospects for a top-three finish this season. Experts note that the team's full potential may unfold on faster circuits such as Nürburgring and Red Bull Ring. BMW has significantly upgraded its machine: the M4 GT3 EVO features improved aerodynamics, a refined suspension system, and modernized electronics, enhancing its competitiveness on high-speed tracks.
Next up is the round at Lausitzring, where the battle for every point will continue. Judging by Schubert Motorsport’s fighting spirit, they are clearly not planning to slow down.
