All-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA 2025: features, specs and launch details

Explore the new 2025 electric Mercedes-Benz CLA with up to 792 km range, AI assistant, ultra-fast charging and MB.OS tech. Learn specs, price and availability.
Mercedes-Benz is stepping into a new phase of electrification: as of April 29, 2025, orders have officially opened in Germany and several European countries for the all-electric CLA. This vehicle marks more than just another addition to the lineup — it signals the launch of the largest technology transformation in the company’s history.
Two variants are available at launch: the CLA 250+ with rear-wheel drive and 200 kW of power, and the CLA 350 4MATIC offering 260 kW and all-wheel drive. The first boasts a WLTP range of up to 792 km, while the latter offers up to 771 km. Starting prices are €55,858.60 and €60,380.60 respectively, including VAT. Business customers can acquire the CLA for under €39,000 excluding VAT. By the end of 2025, Mercedes-Benz plans to expand the lineup with additional electric and hybrid versions priced from under €46,500.
Technically, the CLA is built on the new Modular Mercedes Architecture (MMA), specifically designed for electric vehicles. It supports 800-volt charging, enabling a 10-minute charge to deliver up to 325 km of range. The vehicle uses an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery and supports DC fast charging at up to 320 kW.
The digital experience takes center stage. The CLA is the first model to run on the proprietary MB.OS operating system and to feature the next-gen MBUX virtual assistant. Powered by a combination of ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini, the assistant handles multi-step conversations, remembers context, detects emotions, and appears as a dynamic Mercedes star avatar on screen.

This intelligent interface is backed by graphics from Unity Game Engine and receives over-the-air updates via the Mercedes-Benz cloud. Navigation is based on Google Maps and optimized for electric driving, including smart route planning with integrated charging stops. The MB.CHARGE Public service lets users locate and reserve charging points in advance.
The standard equipment list is unusually extensive: LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, climate control for rear passengers, heated comfort seats, 100-watt USB-C ports, a front trunk, and a selfie camera with facial recognition. A promotional Start package is available until September 30, 2025, offering a 35% discount compared to purchasing the features individually.
Against rivals like the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, and Audi Q4 e-tron, the CLA holds its ground with a longer range, faster charging capabilities, and robust digital features. Tesla falls short in battery size and charging speed, while the BMW i4 lags in range. The CLA stands out as one of the few cars in its segment balancing innovation with everyday usability.
Mercedes-Benz is clearly betting on intelligence, digital convenience, and adaptability — and the new CLA may well become the benchmark for this new direction.
