Mercedes-AMG GT “APXGP Edition”: Limited Model Inspired by Formula 1 and Cinema

Mercedes-AMG introduces the GT APXGP Edition, a 52-unit special model linked to the upcoming F1 movie. What makes this version technically and visually unique?
Amid the buzz surrounding the upcoming Hollywood film about Formula 1, Mercedes-AMG has unveiled something truly unique — the AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ “APXGP Edition”, limited to just 52 units. This isn’t just another limited run — it’s a machine that blends cinematic flair, motorsport technology, and AMG’s signature performance and luxury.
Visually, the APXGP Edition stands out immediately. The hand-applied paint features “race gold” accents on the AMG-specific grille, front fenders, side skirts, rear diffuser, and the 21-inch forged wheels. The design pays direct homage to the fictional APXGP racing team featured in the film.
Further emphasizing its motorsport DNA are the standard carbon fiber elements from the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre Package, including the front splitter, side trim, diffuser, and fixed rear wing. A panoramic glass roof, AMG Aerodynamics Package, and black chrome components from the AMG Night Package II add to the exclusive look. Even the AMG fuel cap gets a custom touch with silver chrome and engraved branding.
Under the hood is the proven 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine delivering 585 hp, paired with AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with semi-active roll stabilization. Rear-axle steering and active aerodynamics sharpen the dynamic profile. This is not just a car that looks fast — it’s built to perform.
Inside, black Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfiber are accented with gold stitching. Carbon fiber trim with golden threads, a heated AMG Performance steering wheel with race gold highlights, and a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” badge on the center console round out the exclusive interior. The equipment list is no less impressive: a Burmester High End 3D Surround Sound System (1,170 watts, 15 speakers), 360° cameras, advanced driver assistance systems, AMG TRACK PACE telemetry, and a lift system for clearing obstacles. With its 2+2 seating layout, the APXGP Edition even offers surprising practicality for a car in this class.
Each buyer receives a custom-fitted AMG Indoor Car Cover, made from tear-resistant synthetic fabric and flannel, to protect this collectible in the garage.
The APXGP Edition is part of a broader promotional campaign tied to the release of F1, an upcoming film from Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures. Mercedes-AMG played a key role in production, providing not only vehicles but also technical expertise — including the official FIA Formula 1 Safety Car and Medical Car.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), F1 stars Brad Pitt as a former racing legend making a comeback with the fictional APXGP team. Some scenes were filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends, adding an authentic edge. While fans will soon get to see the story unfold on screen, the only real-world connection to APXGP lies in owning one of these 52 extraordinary vehicles.
