Mercedes-Benz Vans presents BASE Edition versions of Vito, eVito, Sprinter and eSprinter to mark 130 years of the van. Explore key details and specifications.

Mercedes-Benz Vans is marking a milestone by returning to the origins of its segment. In 1896, Carl Benz introduced the Benz Lieferungs-Wagen, regarded as the world’s first motorized delivery vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine. Now, 130 years later, the Vans division is celebrating this anniversary with the launch of special BASE Edition versions of the Vito, eVito, Sprinter and eSprinter.

The anniversary models are available to order immediately. Built on the BASE equipment line, they combine options that are frequently selected by commercial customers into predefined packages designed to balance functionality and cost transparency.

The Vito BASE Edition includes a wooden load compartment floor, smartphone integration, a 70-liter fuel tank and a twin front passenger seat. The all-electric eVito BASE Edition adds a navigation system, comfort seats with lumbar support and DC fast charging capability of up to 80 kW, depending on configuration.

The Sprinter BASE Edition features a load compartment package and smartphone integration, while the eSprinter is available with battery capacities of 56, 81 or 113 kWh and supports fast charging. Depending on the selected version, different WLTP range figures apply. The special editions therefore span both conventional combustion-engine vans and fully electric variants.

Pricing has been announced for Germany, including 19 percent VAT. The offers apply to private and commercial customers with fleets of up to 19 vehicles and are valid for purchase only, excluding leasing or financing options.

The launch takes place within a broader corporate anniversary. In 2026, Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 years since the patent for the first automobile. As part of the global initiative “140 Years. 140 Places”, three new S-Class models are traveling across six continents, covering more than 50,000 kilometers and 140 destinations, with the journey set to conclude in Stuttgart in October 2026.

The historical thread is clear: from the first delivery vehicle of the late nineteenth century to today’s electric vans equipped with digital systems and fast-charging technology. Yet the core focus remains consistent — practical solutions tailored to professional users and their day-to-day operational needs. The BASE Edition models underline that continuity while reflecting the current realities of the light commercial vehicle market.
