Kia America has announced pricing for the first-ever hybrid Telluride, effectively opening a new chapter for its best-selling three-row SUV in the United States. The 2027 model year EX FWD starts at $46,490 (excluding the $1,545 destination charge), introducing not just a new powertrain but a recalibrated balance of performance, efficiency, and space.

At the heart of the Telluride HEV is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a hybrid system and a 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined output reaches 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. By comparison, the previous Telluride’s naturally aspirated V6 produced 291 hp and 262 lb-ft. The hybrid therefore delivers both stronger performance and improved efficiency.

The powertrain is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is available with all-wheel drive. Standard equipment includes e-VMC (Electric Vehicle Motion Control), which coordinates brake and motor control to enhance stability and ride smoothness. In EX FWD configuration, the Telluride HEV carries an EPA-estimated 35 mpg combined rating and an estimated driving range of up to 637 miles on a full 18.2-gallon tank.

Towing capacity is rated at up to 4,500 pounds. While slightly lower than some gasoline-powered competitors, the figure maintains practical usability for typical family needs while prioritizing efficiency.

The new Telluride HEV also grows in size. Wheelbase measures 116.9 inches, overall length reaches 199.2 inches, and width stands at 78.3 inches. Cargo volume expands to 88.3 cubic feet behind the first row. Kia highlights improved third-row access and increased passenger space compared with the previous generation.

Production of the 2027 Telluride HEV takes place at Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant, operational since 2009 and capable of producing up to 340,000–350,000 vehicles annually. The same facility launched Telluride production in 2019, and the model went on to earn the 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award, solidifying its position in the midsize three-row SUV segment.

The hybrid introduction reflects broader market momentum. Industry research indicates continued growth in the U.S. hybrid vehicle market, and key competitors in the segment post combined fuel economy figures in the 34–36 mpg range. With its 35 mpg rating, the Telluride HEV positions itself competitively while retaining the model’s established strengths in space and output.

In moving to hybrid power, Telluride evolves without abandoning the qualities that defined it: generous interior room, confident performance, and American assembly. The new version expands the model’s capabilities, particularly in efficiency, while preserving its core identity.
