Peugeot Sport presents the 2026 9X8 livery inspired by GTi heritage ahead of the FIA WEC season opener in Qatar. Explore the design and key details.

Peugeot is entering the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season not only with renewed ambitions but with a new visual statement. On 26 February, at Atelier Vendôme in the heart of Paris, the brand unveiled the new livery of the PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercars #93 and #94 — a project that connects motorsport, design and heritage.

The design was developed jointly by PEUGEOT Design and Peugeot Sport. At its core are reinterpreted “Hypergraphs”, a visual language derived from the brand’s iconic three-claw signature. The gradient streaks do more than suggest speed; they symbolize constant motion and the flow of data — a decisive factor in a championship where margins between rivals are exceptionally small.

The white, red and black colour scheme pays tribute to the GTi era. It was in 1984, with the launch of the Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6, that the legendary badge began its story, later reinforced by the 1.9 version. Now that identity returns in a contemporary context: 2026 is positioned as a “GTi year” for the brand, with the PEUGEOT E-208 GTi embodying that direction on the road.

Presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, the electric hatchback delivers 206 kW (280 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Maximum speed is listed at 180 km/h, torque at 345 Nm, and the 54 kWh battery is supplied by CATL. The model reflects the close collaboration between designers and Peugeot Sport engineers — a parallel to the racing programme itself.

The PEUGEOT 9X8 remains one of the most technically distinctive Hypercars in the Le Mans Hypercar category. It combines a 2.6-litre twin-turbo V6 with a front-mounted electric motor and a 900-volt battery developed with TotalEnergies/Saft. The hybrid all-wheel-drive configuration mirrors the brand’s strategy of transferring motorsport technology into production concepts.

The new livery will make its on-track debut on 28 March at the Qatar 1812 km, the opening round of the 2026 WEC season. The event takes place at the Lusail International Circuit (5.38 km, 16 corners), with the race scheduled to start at 13:00 local time. The championship calendar includes eight rounds, spanning Europe, Asia, the Americas and concluding in Bahrain.

For 2026, the two 9X8s will be driven by balanced line-ups. Car #93 features Nick Cassidy, Paul Di Resta and Stoffel Vandoorne, while car #94 will be piloted by Loïc Duval, Malthe Jakobsen and Théo Pourchaire. The team highlights continuity and synergy as central pillars of its approach.

The new livery therefore represents more than a design refresh. It forms a link between 1984 and 2026, between Le Mans and a road-going electric GTi, between analogue heritage and a data-driven era. Peugeot’s message is clear: emotion remains central to its DNA — even as performance is increasingly defined by precision engineering and digital intelligence.
