Mercedes-AMG sets sights on Spa 24 Hours win with strong GT3 teams

Mercedes-AMG enters 12 GT3 cars for the 2025 Spa 24 Hours, targeting overall victory and defending the Coupe du Roi across all classes.
Mercedes-AMG returns to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit with a clear ambition: to fight for victory at the 77th edition of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. From June 25 to 29, the Belgian classic will bring together a record-breaking lineup of over 70 GT3 cars from ten manufacturers, and Mercedes-AMG stands out for both scale and quality.
Twelve Mercedes-AMG GT3s will be fielded by seven customer teams. Four of them will compete in the top-tier PRO class, where overall victory is traditionally decided. The other cars will participate in the GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE, and PRO-AM categories, reflecting Mercedes-AMG's broad strategy: not only to target the overall win but also to defend the ‘Coupe du Roi’, awarded to the best-performing manufacturer across all categories. The brand secured this trophy in 2024 with victories in three classes.
The driver roster is impressive. 43 drivers from 17 nations will represent Mercedes-AMG, including four former Spa winners: Jules Gounon (2022), Maxime Martin (2016), Nick Catsburg (2015), and Maximilian Götz (2013). Nine drivers will be making their Spa 24 Hours debut, among them former Formula 1 driver Kamui Kobayashi, who joins GoodSmile Racing.
For Maxime Martin, this race is deeply personal. The Belgian enters his 19th consecutive Spa 24 Hours, continuing a remarkable family tradition. His father and uncle were also victorious here, and Maxime is clearly motivated to add to their legacy under the AMG banner.
Jules Gounon and Fabian Schiller of Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed are equally determined. After a technical DNF in 2024, the team has refined its package for a renewed push. A similar mindset drives Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER’s Maro Engel, who openly expressed his desire to finally add Spa to his victory record.
The race’s challenges go beyond its 24-hour length. Spa’s notorious weather, high-speed corners, and over 100 meters of elevation change create volatile conditions where strategy and clean driving often outweigh outright speed. Traffic density—with over 70 GT3 cars—will only amplify the challenge.
The race kicks off at 16:30 CEST on Saturday, June 28, but key moments begin earlier in the week with qualifying and the decisive Superpole shootout on Thursday and Friday. Supporting races from the SRO portfolio, including the GT2 and GT4 European Series, will also be featured.
For Mercedes-AMG, Spa is more than just another race. It’s a high-stakes platform to reaffirm their status as a GT3 benchmark. While rivals like Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, and Aston Martin are bringing strong lineups, the scale and intent behind Mercedes-AMG’s entry make one thing clear: victory is the only acceptable result.
