BMW presents the M Performance Track Kit for the M2 and a new M Performance exhaust for the M2 CS. Explore technical details, pricing and road-legal specs.

BMW is expanding the potential of the compact M2 with two track-focused upgrades: the M Performance Track Kit for the standard model and a new M Performance exhaust system for the more extreme M2 CS. Both solutions aim to bring race-inspired dynamics closer to everyday driving while remaining road-legal.

The Track Kit for the BMW M2 will be available from July 2026. It has been developed specifically for track day use — a format that has gained increasing popularity among sports car owners in recent years. At the same time, all components comply with German StVZO regulations for road approval.

Aerodynamics take center stage. The package includes a manually adjustable front splitter integrated with the front diffuser, along with wheel arch diffusers and an additional scoop beneath the engine oil cooler. According to BMW, this configuration significantly increases front-axle downforce.

At the rear sits a manually adjustable swan neck wing, similar in concept to those used on the BMW M4 GT3 and M4 GT4 race cars. The top-mounted design allows for more efficient airflow beneath the wing profile. In Race Mode, the wing moves 50 millimetres rearwards to enhance aerodynamic effectiveness. In Street Mode, it retracts to remain within road-legal vehicle dimensions. The angle of attack can be adjusted in two stages, and a brake light is integrated into the wing structure.

The suspension upgrade is equally substantial. The kit features a threaded chassis with four-way adjustable damping, allowing independent high- and low-speed compression and rebound settings. This motorsport-derived solution enables precise adaptation to different track layouts. Ride height can be lowered by up to 20 millimetres, with infinitely variable adjustment.

Development was carried out in collaboration with BMW M specialists. Final fine-tuning was overseen by chassis development engineer and racing driver Jörg Weidinger, who set a 7:25.5 lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the BMW M2 CS. All aerodynamic components were optimized in BMW’s wind tunnel.

The M Performance Track Kit is priced at €23,500 in Germany, excluding installation and taxes.

Alongside the chassis and aero package, BMW is introducing a new M Performance exhaust system for the BMW M2 CS, powered by a 390 kW (530 hp) inline six-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. The system features optimized exhaust routing and multiple sound modes. It is approximately 8 kilograms lighter than the standard unit.

Visually, carbon and titanium tailpipe trims emphasize its motorsport character. These materials are widely used in racing due to their combination of low weight and high strength or heat resistance. In Germany, pricing starts at €8,343.50, excluding installation. The BMW M2 CS is rated at 10.0 l/100 km and 226 g/km of CO₂ under WLTP (CO₂ class G).

Rather than focusing solely on power output, BMW is reinforcing the M2’s identity through a comprehensive approach to aerodynamics, suspension precision and acoustic character. With track day culture continuing to grow and the M Performance Parts portfolio expanding, road-legal track packages appear set to play an increasingly prominent role in the brand’s strategy.
