CUPRA has announced the updated Born with new Matrix LED lights, illuminated logo and improved interior quality. Discover key details ahead of its March 5, 2026 premiere.

CUPRA is preparing the premiere of the updated Born – and, true to form, the brand is building anticipation through subtle visual hints. The world premiere is scheduled for March 5, 2026 at 10:00 am CET, while a short teaser and a handful of key details outline the direction of the refresh.

The focus is clearly on design. The Born adopts elements of CUPRA’s latest styling language, including triangular Matrix LED headlights and an illuminated rear logo. Early materials suggest that the changes go beyond lighting alone. Reports point to revised front and rear sections, with updated bumpers and a sharper light signature intended to align the model more closely with CUPRA’s current line-up. In this sense, the electric hatchback is being brought in step with a brand identity that has grown increasingly bold and expressive in recent years.

The interior is also set for enhancement. Official communication highlights a higher perceived quality inside the cabin, along with expanded technological features. Specific details regarding infotainment, materials or controls have not yet been disclosed, but the emphasis on improved quality signals an effort to strengthen the model’s position within the competitive compact EV segment.

The Born remains CUPRA’s first fully electric vehicle and is widely regarded as a sportier interpretation of a concept closely related to the Volkswagen ID.3. Several publications describe it as a more dynamic “cousin” to the ID.3, underlining differences in design and brand character. For now, however, no confirmed technical updates have been announced; battery specifications, power output and range figures for the refreshed version have yet to be revealed.

As a point of reference, the existing Born VZ delivers 240 kW and 545 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. These figures illustrate the level of performance CUPRA already associates with the model. Whether similar specifications will carry over to the updated Born will become clear at the official unveiling.

More broadly, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for CUPRA’s electric strategy. Alongside preparations for the launch of the compact Raval, refreshing the Born appears to be a logical move to keep the model competitive in a fast-evolving segment. Full details are expected when the curtain lifts in early March.
