One millionth Audi Q3 rolls off the production line in Győr

Audi celebrates a production milestone with the one millionth Q3 built in Győr, highlighting the model's global success and future debut in 2025.
Audi Hungaria’s plant in Győr, Hungary, has reached a major milestone: the one-millionth Audi Q3 has rolled off its production line. Far more than a numerical benchmark, this achievement marks a defining moment in the compact SUV’s story — one that has seen over two million units sold globally since its debut in 2011.
Half of that worldwide total — exactly one million vehicles — were assembled in Győr. Since 2018, the second generation of the Q3, including its Sportback coupe-like version, has been built there. In 2024 alone, plant employees produced 99,288 Q3s and 63,759 Sportbacks. These figures underscore the model’s consistent performance in a competitive market and a steady demand from customers.
Company leaders were quick to recognize the significance. “One million vehicles produced in Győr is a striking testament to the popularity of the Audi Q3 with our customers around the globe,” said Gerd Walker, Member of the Board of Management for Production and Logistics at AUDI AG. He emphasized the plant’s role as a key pillar in Audi’s global production network and its decades-long reputation for quality.
But numbers and volume tell only part of the story. Since its founding in 1993, Audi Hungaria has grown beyond vehicle assembly, producing over 45 million engines and becoming a major player in the brand’s electrification push. In 2024 alone, the plant manufactured more than 150,000 electric drives for Audi and Porsche models, including the Q6 e-tron and the next-gen Macan.
Environmentally, the Győr plant stands out. Over 95% of its thermal energy comes from geothermal sources, and its rooftop is home to Europe’s largest photovoltaic power station. Since 2020, the site has operated with carbon-neutral certification — a rare distinction in today’s industrial landscape.
While Audi takes stock of past achievements, the next chapter is already taking shape: the third-generation Audi Q3 is set to debut in summer 2025. Early information points to a bold new design inspired by the Q6 e-tron, built on the updated MQB Evo platform. This promises to retain continuity while introducing current-day advancements — from plug-in hybrid options to elevated digital functionality.
Given the central role Győr plays in Audi’s production strategy, it's likely that the new Q3 will continue to have deep ties to the Hungarian plant. That bodes well for a model poised to carry its legacy forward into the next era.
