Porsche’s Wehrlein and Cupra Kiro’s Ticktum finish second and third in Tokyo E-Prix. Three Porsche-powered cars place in the top four.

Porsche delivered a commanding performance at the Tokyo round of the Formula E World Championship, placing two drivers on the podium. Pascal Wehrlein, representing the factory TAG Heuer Porsche team, finished second, while Dan Ticktum of customer team Cupra Kiro claimed his first-ever Formula E podium in third place.

From the opening laps, the race promised intensity. Wehrlein and Ticktum quickly took charge, both spending time at the front and engaging in a fierce battle for the lead. Wehrlein remained in contention until the very end, pressing Nissan’s Oliver Rowland throughout the race. However, a late safety car period and a shortfall in Attack Mode usage prevented him from fully capitalizing on his energy advantage. Despite the setback, the result marked Wehrlein’s third podium of the season and propelled him into second place in the drivers’ standings.

Ticktum, driving the customer-spec Porsche 99X Electric WCG3, enjoyed a breakthrough weekend. Qualifying second and starting from the front row, he maintained composure and pace to secure his maiden podium finish. The result was a significant milestone for both the young driver and Cupra Kiro, a team competing in its debut season using Porsche’s proven Formula E technology.

Jake Dennis, driving for Andretti Formula E — another Porsche customer team — crossed the line in fourth, rounding out an impressive showing for Porsche-powered entries. With three Porsche cars in the top four, the Tokyo E-Prix became a showcase of the platform’s competitiveness.

The race was not without disappointment. António Félix da Costa, who had started seventh, was forced to retire after misjudging a slowdown under Full Course Yellow and damaging his car’s suspension. He later took responsibility for the incident and expressed confidence in bouncing back at the upcoming Shanghai races, where he was victorious last season.

With nine of sixteen races completed, Wehrlein sits second in the standings behind Rowland. In the teams' championship, TAG Heuer Porsche trails Nissan. As the series heads to Shanghai for rounds 10 and 11, the fight for both titles is poised to intensify.
