Ford reports upgrades for Puma Hybrid and Puma Gen-E, including BlueCruise hands-free highway driving, a longer electric range and a new 155 hp EcoBoost hybrid option.

Ford has introduced a major update for its compact crossover Puma, covering both the hybrid Puma Hybrid and the fully electric Puma Gen-E. The model receives a range of technological and mechanical improvements, including a longer electric driving range, the addition of BlueCruise hands-free driving technology, a new BlueCruise Edition trim and a more powerful EcoBoost engine paired with an automatic transmission.

One of the most notable changes concerns the efficiency of the electric Puma Gen-E. When it debuted in 2024, the model already stood out with low energy consumption of about 13.1 kWh per 100 km and a WLTP driving range of up to 376 km. With an updated battery, the maximum range now increases to 417 km WLTP, while urban driving can exceed 550 km. Combined with fast charging that can replenish the battery to about 80 percent in roughly 26 minutes, the update makes the electric crossover more practical not only for daily commuting but also for longer trips.

The Puma range also gains an important technological upgrade with the introduction of Ford BlueCruise. The system allows drivers to travel on certain highways without holding the steering wheel while still keeping their eyes on the road and remaining responsible for the vehicle. BlueCruise operates on specially mapped sections of motorway known as Blue Zones and manages steering, acceleration and braking while maintaining lane position and a safe distance to other vehicles.

Across Europe the technology is already approved in sixteen countries, covering more than 135,000 kilometres of highways. BlueCruise first appeared in the region on the all-electric Mustang Mach-E and is now gradually expanding to additional Ford models.

To simplify access to the technology, Ford introduces a dedicated BlueCruise Edition for both the Puma Hybrid and Puma Gen-E. The version includes the driver assistance package and an activated BlueCruise system as standard. It also features distinctive design elements such as Vapor Blue Metallic paint, black 18-inch alloy wheels, a contrasting black roof and black mirror caps. Inside, the theme continues with Nordic Blue accents and embossed seat details.

The hybrid lineup gains a new version of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid engine producing 155 hp, paired with a seven-speed PowerShift automatic transmission. Torque rises to 240 Nm and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h improves to 8.7 seconds, compared with 9.6 seconds for the 125 hp variant.

Ford has also adjusted pricing for automatic versions. The upgrade from a manual gearbox to the PowerShift automatic with the 125 hp engine is reduced from €2,300 to €1,500, while moving from the 125 hp engine to the new 155 hp version costs an additional €500.

Equipment updates are part of the refresh as well. Matrix LED headlights, previously reserved for the ST-Line X, are now available on the ST-Line version. The B&O sound system has been upgraded to 650 watts and features revised mid-woofers in the front doors for improved audio performance.

The updated Puma also expands its connected services. With Premium Connectivity, drivers gain direct access to streaming services, games and karaoke through the vehicle’s infotainment system. In addition, Connected Navigation uses cloud-based data to help drivers avoid traffic congestion and plan routes more efficiently.

The new versions are available to order immediately. The electric Puma Gen-E BlueCruise Edition starts from €37,795, while the Puma Hybrid BlueCruise Edition is priced from €42,040. The standard Ford Puma range begins at €29,995 with current customer incentives.

With the latest updates Ford expands the technological capabilities of one of its key European models. By combining improved electric range, advanced driver-assistance features and upgraded equipment, the refreshed Puma strengthens its position in the competitive compact crossover segment.
